I'm 5ft1 and 17 weeks pregnant. My bump is absolutely huge and I'm embarrassed when I tell people how early on I am. It gets worse after food and I bloat terribly for hours and feel almost uncomfortable. One of my friends suggested that maybe cause I'm so short that my belly is just expanding to how bit it can possibly grow and then the baby will just grow into it. Meaning I won't get much bigger etc. Is this a thing? I'm extremely worried how big I'm going to be at 9 months if I'm this big and struggling already.

Op can you post a photo? You say it's huge but it might just be because you're not used to the extra weight?

dollydaydream346 · 29/06/2023 22:37

Thanks for sharing this, I'm definitely not alone. Although I'm slightly bigger than you but not far off. Maybe its just a short person thing but yes I'm just going to embrace it now. Bugger it xxxx

I think it's easy to think you're really big when you're not used to having a bump, and then when you look back at photos later you literally think oh wow I was tiny then... but NOW I'm huge 😂
So firstly I bet you're not as big as you think you are.
Also it's true if you're a small frame you just might have less space to hide the bump (I think tall people or those with long torsos often show later). But I do think it's all works out in the end and apart from very rare people everyone ends up with a massive bump. Don't feel self conscious honestly I bet you look great and nothing to be ashamed of. If you really don't like it you could wear loose clothes for a bit though

OP, I’m 5’2, and also 17 weeks and I could have written this post myself.
Before getting pregnant I was feeling quite body confident from going to the gym, and having a flat tummy for the first time ever. I’ve never been super slim, usually a size 12/14. I feel absolutely huge at the mo and don’t know how I’ll sustain this weight / shape.
Im sick of the comments like “you sure it’s not twins” and even had some inappropriate comments at work.
Im trying not to let it bother me and enjoy growing my baby but it’s difficult at times to revert to feeling big and insecure about it.

Bloat can make you look huge early on, as you go along it’ll become baby. People love to comment on women’s bumps, with my last I had about an equal amount of people telling me my bump was huge as I did one’s telling me I was small and neat.

Hi. I should be around 15 weeks and pregnancy was already noticeable 3 weeks ago. I can understand you may be worried for the baby's and your health and comfort. Fingers crossed everything goes OK and you can fully enjoy your pregnancy.
As regards feeling embarrassed about what other people think, I wouldn't even consider that. Especially after I struggled so much to get at this point with previous pregnancies, I can only feel blessed and happy each time I noticed my belly getting a bit bigger. It's a very serious thing we're doing, growing a human being.
Take care!

I'm currently 16+2 and can't wait for my bump to "pop"
At the moment I do just look a bit fat around the middle but I'm 5'8 so it might just be because you are a little shorter it looks bigger in comparison

TTCJJB · 30/06/2023 17:13

I could have written this post too. I'm 19 weeks but have been showing for ages. Think it's a height this as this is my first pregnancy and I'm 5"3.
