Early scan

I went to get an emergency scan today due to bleeding. All looked okay (no reason for bleeding!), but the sonographer could only locate the gestational sack and yolk sack. I am 6 weeks according to midwife predictions, but when I consider my last cycle length, the prediction on the NHS website is 5 weeks, 6 days.

Should I be concerned that they can’t see a foetal pole or heartbeat yet? Rational me is saying no, but I want to check! X

At that early stage it can be tricky to see, especially if you ovulated late. Many places don’t scan till after 6 weeks for that reason.

Could well be to early , are they planning a rescan?
and could you do hcg in the meantime while you wait? 😊

They don't seem to do HCG as regularly over here. They weren't concerned so didn't suggest doing that! They told me it all looked great, so I'm guessing they weren't concerned, but they have booked in a rescan for the 10th July to check it's all moving in the right direction! X

I think from my tests that I ovulated on the 13th day of my cycle but my last period cycle had been 29 days before being pregnant, so I think that may have had an affect! When I then estimated due date it said I was 5 weeks, 6 days yesterday! X

I had a scan due to spotting at what should have been 6 weeks but was 5w4d going by LMP, and they could only see gestational sac and yolk, no fetal pole. That was with a vaginal scan too. He said it was 50/50 whether they could see anything at 6 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now

It must be why he didn't seem concerned then. He just kept saying it looked great. X
