Progesterone pessary issues TMI

I have been on progesterone pessarys for around two weeks now following multiple early losses but I’m finding them hard to use vaginally. I had a child 4 years ago so worried I have some sort of prolapse as struggling to get them very high vaginally and they keep coming out. All feels very swollen in there, is this normal in early pregnancy? Has anyone had any similar issues? Going to try the back way for a few days and see if it helps!

I use them rectally. It’s more accepting and there’s no mess

I hear it's easier to use them rectally but I wasn't allowed to when I was using them in pg for a short cervix. Check with your doctor before you do.
I'd insert them and then lie in bed for about half an hour. There would be some discharge afterwards, which is normal. They still slipped out occasionally, when I coughed or something! I always just popped them back in.

They gave me hellish thrush though...

I’m no good at putting anything inside me with my fingers. My DH adapted an applicator from a thrush pill applicator so I could put the pessary in vaginally so it would go high enough and I’d not freak out. Could be worth a try?

I was on 1 twice daily in early pregnancy and now on 1 once daily due to LLETTZ procedure. I double checked about rectal use with my doctors and she said it was fine.

@Valour did they say why you couldn't use them vaginally - worried I've been given wrong information

After 2 weeks I got so sore and irritating up there I switched to rectally.
My consultant yes it's absolutely fine and does the same job and is absorbed the same way.

Thanks for all the tips. I actually put it in while laying down last night and so I didn’t have to move after and that helped. So hopefully a combo of that and rectally will help. After so many losses I just really hope they are helping!

I did rectal in the end because vaginal would inevitably result in a massive rush of white discharge when I was on the train or giving a presentation and make me think I had wet myself

No, they didn't say why. It was quite annoying as I was begging to change, my thrush was that bad that I was bleeding. But all I could find online was that rectal use had exactly the same effect, so I don't know why they didn't let me! I'm sure you will be absolutely fine. (I ended up going overdue!) X
