Hey all! I got my BFP yesterday (yipee!), did the happy dance, called the Dr, who sent me a form for self-referral for maternity services. As I am not high risk I am unlikely to see anyone before 10-12 weeks, which is fine, but seems like an awfully long way away from here at 4 weeks.

How can I fill this time with useful things? I feel fine at the moment and want to make the most of it!

Is there anything you wish you had prepared or bought this early, or did and were thankful for later on?

And for any crafters out there, did you make anything for yourself, partner, or baby?

TIA!

From around 5.5 weeks until 11 weeks my time was taken up by feeling really rubbish 😂. I had a private scan at 9 weeks as I had had 2 previous losses so that cut down my time waiting too. I’m 31+4 weeks now and it feels like I’m always waiting for my next appointment.

@MenaF Congratulations!!!!

I'm only just 12 weeks so I'm sure someone with more experience can answer better than I can, but I pretty much just carried on as normal & still haven't bought anything yet.

I felt a little overwhelmed when all my appointments started, and since we've told a few more people I weirdly really miss the part where it was just me and my husband that knew and we were in a lovely little happy and very private baby bubble. I suppose my only advice really would just to try and enjoy and soak up every little bit of it. When went away for a couple of nights just after we found out and it was so lovely.

Oh and I didn’t buy anything until after my 20 weeks scan this time. With my first I did buy one little outfit after the 12 weeks scan but that’s it. I’ve still got loads to buy and sort now 😂

I’m 6 weeks (first ever pregnancy) and honestly I’m protecting myself by trying not to think about it, in case something goes wrong. Obviously eating well and exercising too but I was doing that anyway.

Sex! I felt fine all through my first trimester and wish I'd taken better advantage.
Resembled a hippo from about week 22 and now at 36 weeks I don't think there's a way we could without me either suffocating him or myself

Just rest up and buy pregnancy vitamins!

MenaF · 28/06/2023 13:59

@allgoodthings84 Aww bless! I am anticipating my feeling fine not to last for long I must admit!

@greengreensummer Thank you!! A night away is a great idea! It's actually our first wedding anniversary next weekend so we'll definitely do something.

@Peony654 All the best with your pregnancy. I'm also conscious it is still early days yet, but forceful optimism has always been my default haha.

@overwork😂Also a good idea!

@BackOfTheMum5net Thankfully been taking vitamins for some months already in preparation!

Honestly just relax and enjoy it! I wouldn't buy anything yet, or make anything, just live happily with the knowledge you're cooking a little bub. Don't forget to take your pregnancy vitamins (with folic acid being the most important), stay exercising and active as best you can as and when symptoms hit. Good luck and hope everything goes well x
