I posted earlier saying I'm nearly 31 weeks and I had strong period pains all night that stopped in the morning.

Midwife came and done a second sweep.

I was 1cm but she stretched me to 2cm.

I'm 2/5 engaged now and also my cervix is 2cm long. What does the length of my cervix mean? She also said mu cervix is central and I have no idea what that means !!

So the pains I had last night must've been to do with my cervix length?

Is there’s a medical reason your midwife is giving you sweeps at only 31 weeks? 2/5 means your baby’s head is 2/5 into your pelvis, kind of where is should be at this stage. And most womens cervix are 1-2 cm naturally and can be like this weeks before labour🙂

Ahh that makes a whole load of difference then! Hopefully the second sweep will get these pains moving along at this stage they will certainly be doing something! Walk lots! And get rolling on a birthing ball if you can, good luck!

Also freaked when I saw 31 weeks 😂
Had some tightenings at 37 weeks with my first that were picked up on ctg. Got a sweep done. Ate all the pineapple I could find (wouldn’t recommend), walked on the curb (like one foot on road, one foot on curb not sure what that’s called), dates, and lots and lots of bouncing and rolling on the ball. Baby born 48 hours after sweep. The cramps is a good sign! It means your cervix is opening!

Also, hot bath if you have one! Midwife put me in a hot bath during labour. Went from 2cm to 10cm in less than 2 hours!!
