Hi basically, I’m meant to be 11 weeks, and I’m only getting faint lines on any test I take. In the beginning they were really dark! Thanks

Hey OP didn't want to read and run I don't have any experience as I've normally not continued tested after being positive but the only advice I can give is maybe go to your local early pregnancy unit for a
Scan to see what's happening good luck FlowersFlowers

The 'hook effect' occurs when levels of hcg are so high they are out of the test kit's range. The tests are only supposed to be used in early pregnancy detection so once hcg becomes above the range of the test, they can give faint lines or even negative results. They cannot be reliably used to track pregnancy progression so please don't worry that anything is wrong based off this alone. If you have had no symptoms of concern then this is no indication of a problem. Hopefully your 12 week scan is soon?

HCG starts to lower again at a certain point in pregnancy (can't remember which week) but basically you'd expect tests to get lighter after that point. If you're worried, I'd get a scan but I'd say stop testing, it will only stress you out at this stage x

Hcg falls at about 8-10 weeks.

Either the hcg is too high for the test (hook effect) or the levels have started to fall (which is completely normal during pregnancy) after the first few weeks it’s really not a good idea to use tests
