Signs of early labour or over thinking?

Hi, I’m 36 weeks the past couple of days I’ve had mild period like cramping and a dull ache in the bottom of my back that’s like also in my hips and going up my back, I also keep feeling the need to go to the toilet but there’s literally nothing there to come out just alot of pressure, I’ve also had some thick gooey discharge but it’s been clear.
baby is now head down but with my first I had a sweep which started things off, I recall these kind of pains but more intense with my first.

is it likely these pains could be leading to something or am I completely over thinking it?

I had a section so can’t help much but it does all sound like it’s heading towards labour although I know some people have those signs for weeks before it actually starts

Sounds like your body is gearing up.
It can do this for weeks though so unless there becomes a pattern to the pains it probably isn't happening yet.
Make sure your bag is all ready etc and you rest as much as you can.
Any concerns though always go and get checked 😊

Thanks @Itsapurplepanda and @Princesspeachee my first was a couple of years ago now so cannot for the life of me remember what happened 😂
pains just come and linger at the minute rather than any pattern. Also losing bits of mucus plug but I know it’s not meant to mean a lot unless it’s bloody

Could be. I had very mild cramps in the middle of the night, which I completely ignored. Didn't even think it might be the start of things. Went about my morning, going into town. Waters broke. It was very dramatic like you see in films! I'm very shy so I always say, it could only happen to me! 3pm baby was in in my arms! This was at 38+6

@LT2 i would say these are mild coming on to slightly painful, it makes me stop in my tracks definitely! I never went naturally with my first I had a sweep, contractions started instantly then they broke my waters in hospital.

As you’re are pre term you really need to contact your birthing unit. Stopping in your tracks sounds like contractions to me.

Princesspeachee · 26/06/2023 15:41

@Anonymoususer456 if you're losing bits of plug too then I would get checked as PP has said. It wasn't long before I had baby after losing plug and it wasn't bloody either

I’ll definitely keep an eye and ring if they carry on, they tapered off but I think are resuming so will probably go ahead and give them a call, I find baby is very active when the pain is happening,

I'm 34 weeks with my second and have been feeling the exact same way OP.

Hopefully she stays put for another little while!

Anonymoususer456 · 26/06/2023 18:56

@justanothermanicmonday1 hopefully. I am really not sure what to think of it, I am slightly worried but am putting off calling, I know they will tell me it’s nothing due to my gestation.
