Elective c-section - pre op appointment

Those of you that have been through the pre-op appt for an elective section, can you tell me what happened at it?

Just want to be prepared for when I have mine. I've got a little booklet that briefly says what happens but it would be good to get some info from people who've actually been through it. I like to be prepared.

Thank you x

Following this as I'm due in 4 weeks and also to have a c section

So at my pre op appointment they had all the women in who were due to have a C-section that week. A midwife and an anaesthetist talked to us as a group and explained their roles on the day and just how the day would go for us.
We then each individually saw the anaesthetist who ran through medical history, and then individually saw the midwife who gave us our time to go in and I think people got some kind of drink (I had GD so didn't get that), then we had bloods taken.
I'm not sure if every hospital works the same way, but that was my experience 😊

Oddly I had mine on the phone. They talked you through what will happen on the day and then I came in the next day for some bloods and they gave me sterile body wash and I had a rather disgusting preppy drink to drink. I don’t think I managed to finish them both. It is meant to keep you hydrated when you have the caesarean.

At mine they did some paper work 1:1 with a midwife, took my blood, checked urine and my blood pressure. I was also monitored for baby movements due to GD. Nothing overly taxing!
