Hi lovelies

This is my first pregnancy so I'm a bit clueless so please bare with me..

The past 10 days I've had period cramps and last night they turned into more painful cramps which I almost thought could be mild contractions (they hurt but I've heard how bad contractions are) and felt very sick .

I was just wondering if you think this could be Braxton hicks still or fake Labour? I keep hearing all sorts of different phrases for them , I'm so shocked I didn't go into full labour this morning after them but they've totally gone now. So strange!

You're probably just getting ready for labour. It can be swings and roundabouts like this for a few weeks leading up. Try and relax and what will happen will happen. Stress will delay anything that wants to happend, so put your feet up and chill! Good luck for when the time does come! Xx

Thank you so much that's lovely advice and makes sense that my body is preparing for Labour as it definitely felt like it was last night 😂

Definitely sounds like your body is warming up for things.
Do check that you're keeping well hydrated - in the current weather it's really easy to not drink enough and you can get Braxton Hicks from being dehydrated.

I don't have any useful advice sorry (wish I did) but am in a similar situation. Have just turned 39 weeks and have been having cramps and tightenings for weeks now. Yesterday they seemed to really ramp up in intensity and lasted all day from about 6am. Also periods of feeling nauseous. I was convinced it must be the start of labour and then, when I woke up this morning, nothing apart from the odd mild cramp and nausea. It's got me down a bit to be honest!

What I really don't understand is that the cramping and tight/upset stomach type feeling doesn't seem to come and go as I would have expected. The discomfort/pain hangs around for hours before it calms down a bit and returns again (for hours). Very strange! No idea what it is or if it's just one of those things. First midwife I spoke to suggested I get it checked, second and third said just to monitor it and hopefully it would be the start of labour. All very confusing!

Sending solidarity and lots of well wishes to you and your baby. It's all very frustrating at this stage x

I had the same with 2 of my pregnancies and it's your body getting ready for labour.
Your contractions will increase and become more painful and it's unmistakable
Get your bags packed and Good luck!

Thank you for your advice! Do you recall how long before you were in Labour after? X

Things started within a week, but once I went into labour properly he took 51/2 hours
So hopefully this is the start for you too

Oh bless you I hope you are ok? How are you feeling today? It's such a strange time the build
up to Labour, I'm still having feelings of cramping and tightening too but it does just come and go for me I must admit but maybe because I'm less than 39 weeks perhaps it will linger longer when I'm at your stage. X

I'm ok thanks, just veeeeery frustrating at this stage and having more of the same. I need to decide if I go for the sweep on Monday. Apparently in my area they induce you at 41 +3 as standard if they're still in there so would like to avoid that if possible and trying all sorts to try and encourage him out into the world. How are you getting on? Hope you and your little one are well too :) I'm hoping all this cramping and tightening is getting some of the hard work out of the way and labour will be nice and speedy when it does come 🤞x
