Does nipple stimulation induce labour?

When people have said about helping labour start they've mentioned stimulating your boobs! Does this really help?

My birthing book says it does work, but you would need to do 3 x hour long sessions a day to see any benefit!

In my experience, no. Nor does raspberry tea, spicy food, sex or exercise. Or, for that matter, going somewhere where it would be inconvenient to go into labour, like the opera.

I breastfed throughout pregnancy and my youngest was very overdue. I'd have been in for an elective c-section before he came if it hadn't been for an admin error.
