I know you are suposed to have cool baths - but what I really really crave is a nice warm bath - Is this safe?
Am I harming the baby?
Does anyone else have hot baths???
Also thought that you were suposed to be hot when cheggers. I am still feeling the cold and have a constant cold nose

I am pg with number 4 and have had hot baths with all mine, no harm done!

Just not to hot as you can feel very light headed when getting out!

Not sure about the cold nose bit!

I love hot baths but like you was confused over what is too hot.

The rule is apparantly that you don't want to be getting into a bath that is so hot it makes your skin go red and you sit in there sweating with a racing pulse! That's not good for you pregnant or not and it's not good for baby either.

I like really warm/hot baths but obviously not that hot. Can't do tepid luke warm in this horrible weather, I need to feel a bit of heat.

I think they say not to have the bath too hot as it can make you feel faint and increase your blood pressure.

It's also because the baby will get hot but has no way of cooling down where as you obviously have sweating etc that will help you.

I had hot baths all the time with both boys, 2nd time round had the bath thermometer and my most comfortable temperature is 40 degrees. much above that I don't like it but the 37.6 that they recommend for a newborn to me is soo cold!

I think the Jacuzzi this is because the bubbles might give you an issue if they go places they shouldn't.

hehehe...

sorry.

sophiewd · 23/02/2008 11:57

We were talking about this the other day with MW, hot baths is because they make you feel faint but if that is what you are used to then should be OK, jacuzzis are a no no according to her because the bubbles hit pressure points which can trigger labour, hence reflexology not allowed until later on in pregnancy.

blimey didn't know that was the reason behind not using a jacuzzi!
