Pull out method

So sorry for TMI

me and my partner have been abit careless recently (both in agreement of it happens it’s fine). I came off the pill six months ago as my periods were everywhere. We were using condoms untill last month when one split so I got a morning after pill. This month we’ve used nothing and just “pulled out”. According to the flo app my main ovulation day was the 19th, we used the pull out method on the 17th and the 18th. What’s the chances I could have fallen pregnant?! Has anyone else pulled out the day befor ovulation and fell pregnant?!

clearing we’re both not bothered if I am pregnant :) and I know it’s to early to test isn’t it?!

🙋🏼‍♀️ This has happened to me

Summerishereagain · 21/06/2023 13:10

Pretty high. Sperm is viable for up to 5 days in a women’s body.

MrsSamR · 21/06/2023 13:11

If you're not bothered about getting pregnant then why did you get the morning after pill? Of course you can get pregnant using the pull out method as you call it. Either use contraception or don't.

Forthelovagod · 21/06/2023 13:11

It depends how good a puller outer he is and how fertile you both are.

It work for me for years

Aquamarine1029 · 21/06/2023 13:11

The pull out method is an excellent way to get knocked up.

Flower2219 · 21/06/2023 13:11

Oh wow!! Did he pull out in time? I’m pretty sure my partner did! But I guess pre cum can be the cause?

This is a risky method, so it's possible that you are pregnant, but it's still much less likely that you're not.

I think the stats are that if you use this method for a year, approx 1 in 5 women will fall pregnant. But as you've only used it twice, obviously it will be a lot lower than that.

mumtotwox · 21/06/2023 13:13

I couldn't tell you @Flower2219 😆 It was after a concert and we were both pretty drunk! He claims he did but obviously not, it was a happy surprise thankfully 😅

Angelofthenortheast · 21/06/2023 13:13

Realistically if he pulled out before anything happened...not very likely.

But maybe if you're really young and super fertile and he didn't pull out at the right time obviously it could still happen.

My last pregnancy ended in a stillbirth at 38 weeks. I guess I feel scared for it to happen again but also knowing I want one? It’s not an easy commitment for me but deep down I do want another

Sperm is released pre ejaculation to stop foreskin tear and aid lubrication.....did you miss sex ed?

Flower2219 · 21/06/2023 13:19

Haha well at least it was a good suprise 🥰 the day after he pulled out I had period pains all day! I’m guessing this would be too early for implantation pains?

I got pregnant last time through pull out.
Sadly ended in MC but anyway, the method did not work 😁

So sorry to hear about your still birth. I can imagine using an 'if it happens' approach feels less scary than committing to actively trying. I hope it happens for you and all goes well next time.

The pull out "method" is not a method, it's a lack of one.

FirstMondayInMay · 21/06/2023 14:09

Flower2219 · 21/06/2023 14:26

Flower2219 · 21/06/2023 14:37

We’re you ovulating at the time? Just trying to see what my chances are it’s happened with it being so close to ovulation :)

Yep. We tried it once. I now have a 4 year old.

moosey89 · 21/06/2023 14:40

@Flower2219 you wouldn't have any signs of implantation for at least 5 days after ovulation, usually 7-11 days.

The pull out method is not reliable at all - men have pre-cum which can still have sperm in it, and is released before they fully ejaculate! So there's always a risk of getting pregnant that way.

In terms of knowing, it's the age old advice of wait and see if your period turns up, and if it doesn't show up on time then take a test.
