Any doctors here? Cyclizine for morning sickness

Hi everyone

Despite my post a week ago saying the morning sickness hasn't kicked in...I was wrong! Currently 7 weeks pregnant and spent the last week extremely unwell.

I have been prescribed cyclizine (50mg x 3 a day, when required).

There is no mention in the leaflet or prescription how far apart to take these 3 doses. The drug seems to work for 6 hours so was thinking of taking every 6 hours during the day (non at night).

But NHS website says to take every 8 hours. I know if I left it that long between doses I would be extremely unwell again.

Has anyone used cyclizine in pregnancy? What did you do?

Many thanks

I was taking one with breakfast, lunch and then dinner .. I didn’t find they helped me at all but I kept taking them for a few weeks just incase they were doing something

As long as you only take 50mg 3 times a day then that is safe and fine. If every 6 hours works for you but you don't need any at night then that's fine, the NHS website says every 8 hours just to evenly cover the whole 24 hours. If the sickness doesn't wake you up in the night then you're all good every 6 hours!

They didn't help me at all, sorry that's no help at all!

Thank you so much! It does indeed wake me up at night.... but is not as unbearable as it is during the day... so would prefer to take the doses around daytime. Thanks so much!

I took 3 times daily; so morning lunch and evening. They worked like magic for a week…. Then stopped working completely. Second pregnancy gp again prescribed them to start, they either did nothing or maybe took the edge off, but weren’t much use. Weird.
