Strong hiccups at 33 weeks - is this normal?

Hey,

I have an anterior placenta so I feel my movements have been really subtle, I am finally starting to feel a lot more at 33 weeks.

My baby is still getting quite strong hiccups at 33 weeks, about twice a day, is this normal? Or could it be something else...

Thank you!

Yes that’s normal.

Yes, normal

Yes totally normal! My daughter hiccuped a lot. I had an anterior placenta too and it was so lovely being able to feel something ❤️

DD would hiccup as soon as I sat down for the evening. Totally normal. She didn't seem to hiccup as a baby or growing up

Hey @youaremysunshine03 thank you so much!
I know, I should be grateful I'm feeling something but it feels so alien when I've not felt much the whole time!
Thank you <3

Yes, normal and very good! It’s how they train for when they breathe outside the womb. Right now their lungs are doing nothing at all because they get their oxygen via the placenta and umbilical cord. The hiccups train the diaphragm muscle and operate the lungs which builds up stamina to get ready for breathing. So, if you didnt feel hiccups there would be cause to worry.

@L3ThirtySeven oh this is gorgeous, thank you so much! It feels quite alien / weird to me as I feel so little, but now I know it's positive I'll savour it :)
Thank you!

My daughter hiccuped non stop in the womb. When she was born she was also a very hiccupy baby 😂

Blue2020 · 21/06/2023 04:55

My baby hiccuped, and now he hiccups at 11weeks too (and he’s a very windy baby). I didn’t really notice hiccups until 34weeks and then he was born at 35weeks.

Normal! Both my babies hiccuped loads throughout pregnancy and afterwards!

After eating a whole tub of Pringles my DD had hiccups in the womb 😂

My DS was very hiccuppy. Same after he was born.
