Understanding the nub theory?

Hi all,

been dated at 13 weeks exactly, have no idea how to do the nub theory though, any ideas? Not even sure if this is a clear image.

@Pangwal its actually very accurate if you have a clear image and know what your looking at. Obviously not 100% but then even scans aren’t 100%.

How can I believe a nub theory when People can tell a difference between cord and a penis now a days

people posted 47 comments on my thread but none of them dared to guess cord or penis

That's because your scan photos were completely unreadable. As PP said, with a clear image, nub theory is very accurate

@Pangwal nub theory only works up to 14 weeks which is before the genitals have developed. Just because you have some bitterness about your post doesn’t mean it’s not accurate

bit cheeky of me to jump on I know but I also don’t understand this theory. My cousin keeps telling me about it. Does my scan picture have a nub?!

Yeah maybe it’s bitterness or maybe nub theory did not work in my case that’s why I don’t believe it

Perhaps they were not clear but sometimes you have make difficult guess…it ok to be wrong sometimes

@Pangwal ive just looked up your post and you have posted a potty shot at 23 weeks. There is no nub at 23 weeks as the genitalia has formed. It’s a bit silly to say nub theory didn’t work for you when your picture is too late for nub theory. The nub should be looked at between 12 and 14 weeks. After 14 weeks there is no nub as it develops into the genitals.

Can someone tell me what the heck a nub is pls?! I have two children now so it’s a bit late but I’m always interested to know what people are looking at?

Oh dear I was taking about my 13 week scan in which the tech was positive of baby being boy according to nub theory…I could have saved you the trouble if you had just asked me the week

Google it…one good picture will explain the whole theory but it’s not reliable

@Pangwal youve literally said your post where you asked if it was the cord or penis, which isn’t anything to do with a 13 week scan. There’s several facebook groups that do nub theory predictions. If you have a look at them they are correct the majority of the time. Again saying it’s not reliable just because you don’t understand it is a bit silly.

I really hope you work through whatever is getting to you, if you want to know your baby’s sex as you’re now over the nub theory time you’re best having a sexing scan.

why would i mention nub theory when uploading the pictures from 23 week…23 week is when they told me that it’s a boy but at 29 week scan doctor Is not sure and she said baby could be a girl…I have had about five 4 scan…don’t feel like going through another one…so I would let it be a surprise baby

Hii can anyone guess what im having? 12 week scan

If nub theory is a real thing why can’t experienced obstetricians or sonographers tell from the 12 week scan but randoms on the internet apparently can? I’m guessing that it’s not like they know at 12 weeks but don’t want to tell you because you can find our earlier than that with NIPT testing, and even if the NHS wouldn’t go for it surely private scan places would be offering nub scans if it were possible to tell so soon? Or am I missing something?
