Acne eruption 5+4 weeks pregnant help!

I am 5+4 weeks pregnant and my skin has erupted into a million itchy oily spots. I have always suffered with hormonal acne and definitely had this with my first pregnancy.

Does anyone have any tips/products for hormonal acne? I am currently taking Azeliac acid and zinc niacinamide from the ordinary which I am sure worked last time. So far it's not budging though and I just don't want to leave the house without make up on but aware that will make it worse so... paper bag? 🙈 help!

@FlapJackered sorry you are going through that... I am the same, and in my case it got worse and worse as my pregnancy evolves ... (I am 17 weeks now) to the point I didn't want to leave the house and I learned so many foundation make up tips online to cover it...

I also have rosacea which made it worse...

the products that only helped me so far (and I bought soo many) is from avene: the antiredness soothing gel... which helps with the redness but haven't found anything that helps with the acne so far :(..

Mine was really bad at that stage. Now I’m 37 weeks and my skin is the best it’s been for about 20 years! No advice other than to accept it’s all the hormones fault.

I’m 16 weeks and had a complete eruption all over my face, chest shoulders and back around week 7 and honestly it made me more miserable than the nausea! I couldn’t look in the mirror, I felt so horrible and also felt so bad for being “vain” it did clear up after about 2 weeks and now I’m in the second trimester it’s basically gone, no new spots and the ones on my back are clearing up okay. I ordered some Panoxyl online (benzoyl peroxide wash) which is considered safe during pregnancy. That and niacinamide (also safe) really helped. The hormones were the big thing but it felt good to be able to take some action over the situation at the time. Hang in there!

It’s a horrible stage to be in but later on in the pregnancy the hormones will shift again and you’ll have the best skin you’ve ever had 😂 my only strategy was to wait. I also started wearing foundation for a bit, which I didn’t normally. It just helped my confidence til it went away.

Thanks @Al991 Fingers crossed it shifts at some point! 🤞

Just to update my post in case anyone is in the same position and finds this thread. I started to see small improvements in about 2 weeks of using the ordinary products and now at 9 weeks my skin's much better, definitely not flawless but much much better - no paper bag needed anymore!
Not sure if it's the hormones settling or the products I am using. 🤷‍♀️
