Would just like a support thread for anyone in the same or similar boat tbh. Im 39, have a 15 month old and have just fallen pregnant after 1 month of trying which is so soon so I'm so grateful but a little scared to have 2 under 2! But at my age I think the sooner the better. Won't get my hopes up until 8 week scan due to historic missed m/c's. My first successful pregnancy was a dream but chasing after a toddler this time so I don't think I'll get so lucky. Anyway - anyone else? Just support here x

Congratulations! I had my first the day before my 40th and have not regretted one minute. I know it's a bit freaky being labelled a geriatric by midwives, but ignore them. The world and people's general health were a lot different when the terminology was put in place! I hope all goes well for you 🎉

Hi there. Not quite the same stage but could related to everything you said so feel compelled to reply. I'm 22 weeks with baby number 2. Fell pregnant after first full cycle of trying, had a 15 month old at the time and I am 39! Spooky coincidence! I have had anxiety in both pregnancies. I think it's entirely natural to worry about something that means so much to you. I really hope that you have a simple journey this time around!

Congratulations! I'm 38 with a 16 month old and around 5.5 weeks pregnant. Not entirely sure as just going by last period. Also trying to wait for a private early scan in a couple of weeks because I've also had a previous miscarriage so feeling a bit nervous

Oh so similar! Congrats to you ✨ How has your pregnancy been so far? Hopefully not too much more stressful with a toddler? I'm thinking maybe mine will take my mind off any anxiety although I might be living in a dream world lol

Oh Congrats! I'm totally the same, trying not to get too excited until the early scan because of previous losses. I think I'm going to book for 8 weeks, so nervous month ahead!

@NadjaCravensworth1 when is eight weeks for you? Im flip flopping between holding out for seven weeks plus at the scan place close to me, or just going at the end of this week to one in London that does transvaginal scans from six weeks.

So it will be in 3 weeks time. I think I'm just going to wait because I don't want to go too early and then still not be sure if there's no heartbeat etc. Trying to be zen about it! Let me know what you decide and how it goes x

So far, apart from anxiety, it hasn't been too bad. The early days with my DC were challenging but I wouldn't say stressful. I had constant nausea and tiredness so couldn't do the things I'd normally do. I felt guilty about that but I did keep reminding myself that there was absolutely nothing I could do about it! Hopefully your partner will step up and try to do a bit more with your toddler to balance things out for a few weeks.

Since about 16 weeks I've been back to myself and I'm doing my best to make up for it! I think my toddler is getting more from me now than he was before! I think my anxiety has been better than it was first time around because I have a constant distraction so hopefully it will be the same for you. It's still there but there's less time to focus on it, if that makes sense? My anxiety was at it's peak before both scans as my toddler wasn't with us so I had time to think!

I hope all goes well for you. Be kind to yourself and the baby on board - ask for help when you need it (whether that's because you need a nap, to eat or just to switch off) and start ticking off those milestones!

Congratulations! I’m 38 and 30+2 weeks pregnant. I had 2 losses before this pregnancy so I’ve been anxious a lot but it has gotten easier. I don’t have a toddler to run around after though, my daughter has just turned 8 so a lot easier as she understands more. I had a private scan at 9 weeks. I waited until then as the chance of miscarriage if seeing a heartbeat on the scan drops massively after 8 weeks. I wanted to try and avoid thinking everything was ok for it not to be just after. I know there’s still a chance after 9 weeks but a lot less

@NadjaCravensworth1 how is everything going? I'm 7.5 weeks now and still have yet to book a scan. The tiredness and nausea has been tough with working and having a toddler. Last time I think I could rest more

Roselilly36 · 02/07/2023 13:27

many congrats OPFlowers

I had two under two, a 21mth gap, it was hard for the first 3 years, but been amazing since. No regrets in having them close, my two are 22 & 20 now and best friends as well as brothers.

Unfortunately I miscarried, sorry I know it's not nice to hear in your position but I didn't want to leave unanswered. It was very early and not too painful. We will be trying again so hopefully I won't be too far behind you! Best of luck for your scan, let me know how it goes x
