33 weeks sudden shortness of breath

Any advice would be welcome as its new for me, I'm 33 weeks pregnant, 3rd child, generally healthy pregnancy no issues so far. In the last week I've had 2 days where I've suddenly been short for breath, and it's lasted the rest of the day, wheezed through the night then woken up back to normal. Chest feels a little tight when I breathe deeply, but no pains etc nothing else seeming off. Its shallow breaths, if I try to take a deep breath I start coughing, walking up the stairs I need to sit down to recover again.
I know some shortness of breath is notmal depending on baby position etc, but it seems really odd how it's quite sudden and quite strong, but absolutely fine the rest of the time.
Has anyone had this before? Is it a case of calling midwife for advice or try to see a GP? I don't want to waste anyones time but I work on my feet all day so would really wipe me out if it hits at work

I had this. Go to MAU. It was taken very seriously and they did various tests to check my heart. Thankfully all was okay but better to be checked.

Get checked out. Hopefully nothing but I'd be asking about peripartum cardiomyopathy

Any swelling or pain in your calves recently? I too would get this checked OP.

Adding the the people saying to get checked out tonight op, either at your midwife unit or a and e if they can't see you. You're at risk of a pulmonary embolism.

I had this around the same stage of pregnancy as you, I literally had to sit down after walking down the stairs to catch my breath. I was breathless a lot. In my case it was low iron and some tablets sorted me out.

I've posted about this on another thread - please get checked. Mine was a PE, I had no pre-existing conditions. I'm still on blood thinners now 7 weeks post Partum. Go and get checked at the GP or a&e.

Please please please go and get checked out.

I didn't and I'm not trying to scare you but ended in complications and missing the first two weeks of my sons life

Thank you for your advice, I saw a GP yesterday, everything seemed fine, he's advised another blood test to check iron levels although they were fine a few weeks ago, and warned me of the signs of pulmonary embolism to be aware of. Still seems odd to me it comes and goes like an episode rather than just constantly being breathless but I'll speak to my midwife as well

Glad nothing immediately obvious but definitely talk to your midwife asap
