Group b strep!

Looking for some advice, was told I had group b strep at 18 weeks pregnant, got given a weeks worth of penicillin however now at 24 weeks I still have group b strep. Doctors said they want to wait until labour to treat this rather than give me another dose of oral antibiotics, however I feel like I’d like to have another dose of oral antibiotics now just due to the heavy discharge this causes me and just general discomfort, can I request that or will I have to just deal with this until labour? Thanks

Do you have symptoms OP? Sounds like you’re saying you have discharge but is that definitely caused by the GBS? If you have an active infection caused by GBS then you do need to have it treated until it clears. But if you are just carrying GBS (as many people do) then you don’t need to do anything, so you need to resolve that question before deciding what to do next.

I had a symptomless UTI in my second pregnancy that was found to be caused by GBS. I had antibiotics which cleared it up. Retested for GBS at 39 weeks and it was negative so I didn’t need to IV antibiotics that I would otherwise have been given.

Yes my symptoms are a Lot of green tinged discharge along with watery discharge been tested for every other infection only thing I have is gbs but they don’t want to give me another round of antibitoics until labour, but I’d like to take oral antibiotics now aswell. I also get a lot of braxton hicks and I’m unsure if this is related to the gbs or just standard. Can I request another round of penicillin for now to see if it will clear the gbs or will they just tell me that I’ve got to wait until labour?
hope this makes sense for you.
thankyouu !
