Missguidedsmiles · 17/06/2023 17:03

At 31 weeks baby was weighing 4.5lb..
Been told he's a big baby and weighing in the 97th percentile..
I also have mild polyhydramnios

Anybody been in the same/similar position?
How big was your baby when he/she was born?

Following as I'm in same position! Don't have GD though and husband is 6 foot 4 and a 9lb baby, his dad was an 11lb baby eek!

OrangeFleece · 17/06/2023 17:14

My dd was on the 99th centile for length, was 8lb at birth.

RandomMess · 17/06/2023 17:33

My DD was off the chart length wise, 10lb 6oz and I'm only 5'.

Birth was fine. Next 2 we're a little smaller.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/06/2023 17:36

DS was apparently 99th and he was 6lb9oz at 37 weeks

AConvivialHost · 17/06/2023 17:47

Both of mine have been off the charts. DD1 was 11.6.5oz and DD2 was 9.13oz and 60cms in length.

Tall baby. Wasn't a pound overweight as he grew. 6ft 3

PurpleBananaSmoothie · 17/06/2023 21:25

At 36 week growth scan I think DD
was 97th percentile overall, head was 99th (why do they always feel the need to tell you how big the head is?) She was born at 38 weeks and 7lb something. She was a long baby and is still really tall but her dad is tall. She’s still on the upper centile but she’s just leggy. Birth was fine but she’d grow out of sleepsuits ridiculously fast.

SarahJinx · 17/06/2023 21:26

Mine were both 99th percentile - one 9lb3 and the other 9lb9. My son went off the chart for height for a year and stayed at 99th for weight and my daughter 97th. Dad is 6,3 I am 5,8 they’re both tall for their ages at 12 and 9, my daughter significantly taller than all the other kids in her class as was my Son until high school really when everyone seems much closer. No GD and I knew both would be ‘big’.

Crazycrazylady · 17/06/2023 23:41

My ds1 was 9.10 at birth as. 58cm long. Still very tall now .

wottf · 18/06/2023 00:47

DD1, she was just shy of 9lb. Most of her weight was length though because her head was on a low centile but length off the chart. Really easy birth. Born in 3.5 hours from first twinge.

Last DD was 7lb5 at 38 weeks exactly. She wasn't as high on the centiles as I expected given I'd heard the average baby was 7LB at 40 weeks.

Cdoc · 18/06/2023 09:23

Not quite 97th, but my baby boy was measuring 90th at every growth scan from 28 weeks, and was born at 40+2 on the 75th centile at 8lb 3oz. Just to show those scans are not always accurate!
I also had mild polyhydraminos at 28 weeks, but the fluid levels went down to the normal range by 34 weeks.

Mellous · 18/06/2023 12:53

Mine was off the chart and weighed 9lb10 at birth. He’s 16 months now and has settled on the 50th centile. I’m not sure why he was so big at birth!

Missguidedsmiles · 18/06/2023 15:56

Thankyou everyone for your replies/comments! Really helped give me a perspective and lessen the worry.

I had polyhydramnios and a 97th centile baby. Born at 38+1 weighing 9lbs!

OhDoh · 18/06/2023 16:03

98th centile.. was 8lb exact. Was born at 39 +1

justanothermanicmonday1 · 18/06/2023 16:10

If it helps I'm 33 weeks on Tuesday and last week I baby was measuring 4lb 11! They're sending me for a 3rd GTT test. I had GD with my first, but wasn't diagnosed until 34 weeks. She was only 8lb 5!

justanothermanicmonday1 · 18/06/2023 16:12

I also have Poly too!

Thinkbiglittleone · 18/06/2023 16:15

I was told we were having a big baby, I am only really petite so it was a worry, DS was birthed 5lb 13 at 38 weeks. No need for all that worry at all, but he did get stuck a bit even at that size, so goodness knows if he actually was a big baby.
