NO signs of labour at 39 weeks !!

I'm 39 weeks today and I have NO signs of labour at all ... not even signs my body is preparing!

No cramps - no back pains ! Absolutely nothing at all.

Babies head isn't engaged and this is my third baby!

My question is - does having no signs of labour mean labour isn't close by?

Just a little gutted that I'm not feeling like my body is preparing

I remember when I was around this stage of pregnancy, I had had several signs of labour (a show, increasing intensity of Braxton Hicks etc) while my NCT friend hadn't had any. Guess which one of us gave birth first? Not me!! It can come on quickly OP. Good luck.

I had no signs with either of my 2 until the day of labour starting. First one I started cleaning in the morning and contractions started at 5pm. Second one my waters leaked early in the morning and then contractions a few hours later.

Nothing in the build up at all. No BH nothing.

CocoPlum · 17/06/2023 13:32

Were your others here by now?

I don't think I had any signs of labour, my BH contractions were never more than a niggle, until I actually went into labour, if that makes sense.

With a third baby, your body has done this twice before, everything has stretched a little ... I'm sure it will happen quickly. And if not ... you've only got 3 weeks max to.go anyway! Good luck!

I never had any signs until either contractions started or waters broke. Head often doesn't engage on second plus babies until labour starts so wouldn't worry about that. Would you get a sweep at next apt

SarahLHs · 17/06/2023 13:33

Same as above. Head was engaged from 34 weeks with both pregnancies, had Braxton hicks for a few weeks, and with my second pregnancy I was 3cm dilated at 39 weeks. Neither made an appearance until over 40 weeks and was included with second one.

Work friend had no signs of labour coming and her waters broke at 39 week and baby arrived within 12 hours.

I remember how impatient I was but babies just come when they're ready!

*induced

I never did

Hazelnuttella · 17/06/2023 13:34

When did your other two arrive?
I didn’t have any signs at all until I started getting labour pains (24 hrs before he was born).

ditalini · 17/06/2023 13:37

I had no signs of labour, literally zero, at 11pm on 39+5 and was resigning myself to induction as I was to be admitted on my due date if things hadn't kicked off.

Ds2 was born at 7am the next morning.

My waters didn't break until just before he was born and the midwife reckoned my second stage was about 5 minutes!

TheLurpackYears · 17/06/2023 13:39

Me neither, you still could have 3 + weeks left to go. I had one at 42+3 and the other one at 41+5, no niggles or false starts before hand.

K37529 · 17/06/2023 13:47

I had absolutely no signs of labour with baby number 2 not even a twinge, my waters just suddenly broke at 39 weeks at 12 that night, literally nothing to indicate that day that labour was coming. What weeks did you have babies 1 and 2? My midwife told me that subsequent babies usually come around same time as your first, I had 1 and 2 at 39 weeks so was true for me.

My first I was induced at 39+5 and she came the next day.

Second baby I had ecoli and waters broke at 37+ 5 days! Baby came the next day!

I guess I'll never know when my first would've came because I was induced but when I got checked before being induced the midwife was adamant baby will be here before her morning shift starts and she was right! Who knows! But yeah I think I'll get to 50 weeks at this rate hahaha

Doesn't mean anything! I didn't have any signs and baby was born in 4 hours on my due date.

Summersunx · 26/11/2024 04:09

Hi when you say you had ecoli was that a vsgjns infection or a uti and did it affect you or baby during labour
