Help!!! When I get up in the morning, I can hardly walk. They get better as day goes on but pain returns if I walk too much etc. Have bought some hideous slip on support shoes from Clarks... oh the glamour. Any advice gratefully received?

I had something similar to this. I don't know the medical name but it is something to do with the tendon that runs through your heel? My GP said it is very common in pregancy, especially if you lived in flat shoes(as I did!)and is to do with your centre of gravity and the you walk to adapt to the distribution of weight. Like you I hobbled when I first got up and going downstairs was one step at a time!
GP gave me some exercises to do (post natal) and it does improve. Not to worry you - I still get episodes of it - especially when I first get up sometimes, or if I have been sitting for long periods. My ds is now 2.5!

It couldn't be this could it?

The reason I ask is because I've had it - years ago now - and it started with intense pain in the soles of my feet. Apparently it can be caused by pregnancy (I wasn't pregnant at the time though - in fact I was on holiday in Crete!). It took about two weeks for the red lumps on the shins to appear - I was fine though after a load of antibiotics.

Not suggesting that it's definitely that, but it might be something to watch out for.

Thank you. will watch out for red lumps. sounds horrible but solvable. You poor thing.

Fallen arches, from wearing flats all the time.

Sounds like plantar faciitis, classically presents with 'first step pain' in the morning or after periods of prolonged inactivity. ? causes, can be biomechanical - fallen arches, most probable cause linked to weight gain, majority of treatments unsuccessful, insoles can give some help. I had in last pregnancy with 5 1/2 stone weight gain, cleared completely as weight reduced.
