Hi all,

I got my bfp a few days ago - I am only 11dpo today so very early days but looking some advice re: weight loss.

My dd is 14 months. I had lost 1.5stone of baby weight since having her but I am still 12ish lbs away from my original pre pregnancy weight (which was probably still a stone heavier than I would have liked to be before falling pregnant, ideally).

I want to be as healthy as I can be throughout this pregnancy as losing the weight since having her has been tough! I have had a bit of a google and actively trying to lose weight when pregnant definitely seems to be a no no but is there any harm in me actively trying to shift a few lbs in the next 8 weeks of 1st trimester? I should add shifting a few lbs SENSIBLY!

If it depends on weight etc I am about 2 stoneish away from a ‘healthy bmi’ and wear a size UK 16

thanks for reading!

I obviously can’t offer medical advice and your medical team will know best but during my first trimester I actually lost around 20lbs. This wasn’t on purpose, I just cut all of the crap out of my diet and tried to be as healthy as possible. Lots of people i know lost weight as a result of morning sickness, so it’s not unheard of. Instead of intentionally trying to lose weight I would just focus on being as healthy as possible. A consequence of that could be weight loss, but your goal should be a healthy pregnancy as you say.

@Pookie2022 that’s a good way of looking at it I suppose - not track necessarily but just be healthier! Growing a little person is a pretty amazing reason to get my diet alot healthier!

I will speak to my gp at my apt with him - i called for a higher dose of folic acid and he said to call back in 2 weeks for a booking apt. Thanks for your reply! X
