Does what you eat affect GTT outcome?

Hi wise mamas in my phone

I’m booked in for a GTT on 3 July. The week before then I’m away for an all inclusive holiday.

Let’s face it, such holidays are usually a time for indulgence (dessert every evening? Course. Daily ice cream? Be rude not to) but I’m concerned about any sugary treats skewing the results of my GTT a couple of days after I’m back. I obviously won’t go overboard anyway as what I get the baby gets - but for example I’d usually opt for a delicious fruit bowl in the morning on holiday which again (whilst not unhealthy) will be high in sugar.

Is anybody able to offer some advice?

Thanks

LEM

I think it's only what you eat in the period before the test which is why they ask you to fast.

It would if you had a HBA1C but you're not so just eat normally once back, the point of the test is to see if you have elevated BG levels whilst fasting, that would only happen if you were diabetic not as a non diabetic eating fruit.
