Pregnant after a 55 day cycle.. any ideas?

Hello,

I really wish that I properly tracked my ovulation so that I wasn’t so unsure right now. I do have an early scan tomorrow so I’m hoping to find out how far along I am then but in the meantime, does anyone have any idea how far along I could be?

I have looked online on the majority of due date calculators etc but a lot of them require the length of your cycle and it only goes up to 40 or so days.. my last cycle was 55!

All this info is from my Ovia app: My LMP started on the 19th/20th April after a 54/55 day cycle and ended 23rd/24th April, my fertile window started on the 4th May, BD on the 5th May and my fertile window ended on the 10th May, I then tested positive on the 17th May.

I had a scan on the 2nd of June thinking that I was exactly 6w (estimated from the Ovia pregnancy app) but I was measuring very small, the fetal pole was only 3mm, I then googled that once I left and it said online that you can expect a fetal pole to measure 2-3mm towards the end of the 5th week of pregnancy so I’m guessing I’m anywhere around 6-8 weeks pregnant now depending on how quick things are growing / how big things are measuring? Would that be right?

Sorry for the ramble, just trying to keep my mind off of negative thoughts and anxiety as I suffered a MMC a couple of years ago and it was at the second early scan that I found out so I’m absolutely terrified for tomorrow.

Please send some positivity this way, I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that everything is okay at this scan tomorrow. I just want our little baby to be growing as they should be 🫶🏼

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
As someone with an irregular cycle who is thinking about TTC this gives me hope!!

In all honesty I don’t think there’s anyway anyone on the internet could tell you.
The scan will tell you and it’s only tomorrow so not too long to wait at all!

Im sorry for your previous loss, and I understand why you’d be anxious, but I honestly think you’d do better to just try to relax and let it all unfold. I know that easy for me to say but I just don’t think there’s anything else to do really. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Good luck and all the best xx

Hello @Justchooseone, thank you so much for your lovely reply.

I’m so glad I’ve managed to give you some hope. If you decide to TTC I hope that it happens as easily as possible for you but either way trust me, your time will come 🤍 My cycles are all over the place ranging from 28-55 days and it’s different almost every month so please stay positive and know that it can and does happen for us with irregular cycles. I feel very lucky and I really hope that you get to experience pregnancy & motherhood one day.

My scan went amazingly today, as soon as I heard those words “everything’s okay” I just burst out crying, it was the biggest relief. I’m still incredibly early, I’m only 6w 6d but baby has grown an incredible amount since last time and we got to see the heartbeat, I am over the moon.

I’ll keep my fingers & toes crossed that everything works out for both of us. I wish you the best on your TTC journey if you decide to go for it, you’ve got this! 🤍

Thats fantastic lovey!! I’m so pleased for you.
I didn’t mean to mislead you but I should have said - I’m actually thinking of TTC #2 (and my periods have gone haywire) so I’m a very lucky mummy to a beautiful little boy already. So hoping to give him a little brother or sister!
It’s the best thing and I’m thrilled for you. So glad the scan went well today, I’ll continue to keep everything crossed!!
All the best xx

The apps like Ovia don't work well with long or irregular cycles. When I was TTC with PCOS and very irregular cycles, I ended up deleting them as they were just upsetting me. Both my DC were conceived on long cycles - DS1 with Clomid, tested positive on about day 45; DS2 spontaneous, tested positive (very unexpectedly!) about day 42.

As a very rough guide, you'd usually test positive about 10-14 days after you actually conceived, so I would estimate that, then go back another two weeks and that date would be your imaginary "last period" that you'd count the weeks from.
