Hi Mommas,

I'm wondering which of the two is better entering the 2nd trimester ? I've been using the original version this whole time but I'm wondering if there is any difference between the two ?

Any recommendations?

Hi, I used the maximum support (the blue one). However, was told by a GP that there's no medical evidence that pregnant women need them and they actually do anything. The only thing you really need is folic acid. Another GP said the same.

As long as your diet is good and varied, you don't need to waste your money on supplementing it with pills. Just buy some folic acid for the first few months - you don't even need that for the full 9 months.

I was given folic acid from the GP on pescription during all four of my pregnancies. Also an iron supplement during one of them when I was low.

I'd read about these supplments but I dont think they're really necessary.

I never took any supplements. Didn't even take folic acid.

I take original one and would probably do without as with previous pregnancies stopped vitamins after couples of months and me and baby were fine.

All you need is folic acid and vitamin D. There really isn’t much difference between those two. I think the max has like 2 extra things in.

Hey,

My midwife recommended I stop taking these. I just took the ones they gave me. X

There’s evidence on the benefits of vitamin d and dha in pregnancy (omegas) so supplement seems fine, regards the difference between the two I assume there are different mg levels in each if one is ‘max’ but probably not much of a difference at all!

I use pregnacare max

Spottypineapple · 14/06/2023 16:02

The difference will be marketing to make you think you need to buy a new pack when you've not finished the first.

I think there's a difference in the folate - my IVF clinic told me to take Max, as the folic acid was in methyl folate form . . . or something Blush
