So, we have just found out that I’m pregnant, we have a 12 month old daughter.

this was a total surprise for us, however I’m now dreading telling people. I’m worried about families thoughts/reactions to baby no.2 with there being such a short age gap.

I am also unsure of where I stand with work as I am starting a new job next month so I’m worried to tell them also, has anybody got any advice on how to handle this please?

I presume you want a second child despite it being a surprise and you're having the baby / not considering your options?

Just tell people and ignore any comments. It's nothing to do with anyone else but you. It really doesn't matter what others think.

Where you stand with work will depend on the company / contract. You may well not be eligible for enhanced maternity pay but you'll have to read your contract to know for sure. Obviously they can't discriminate against you for being pregnant though.

Let them know when you're ready to do so, their option also doesn't matter!

If your happy that's all that matters don't worry what everyone else's says I presume they will all be happy anyway babys are good news if they took the news well with the first why would it be any different with the second it doesn't matter that you had a baby 12 months ago by the time your other baby's born your 12 month old will be almost 2 also with the work situation you'll be able to work until you get heavily pregnant again and your baby will be able to go into some kid of nursery/childcare until you go on maternity leave again I wouldn't tell your new job your pregnant just yet some jobs might not want to take you on knowing your pregnant and gonna be leaving soon I don't know if your obliged to tell them your pregnant though?

It's really not a tiny gap! Shorter than average but not 12 months.'

I chose to have a 14 months gap 🤷🏽‍♀️
