BPA in receipts

Hi

I’m having a bit of a meltdown about finding out that bpa is in receipts. I handle receipts all day and i had no idea they are covered in toxic levels of bpa. Im 37 weeks pregnant and now I’m freaking out about the potential damage I’ve caused my unborn baby. I’ve spent the whole day researching and I’m pretty devastated about what’s being said. Can anyone shed some light on this topic, anyone else in the same boat or anyone else been worried about this? Or just people who have worked with receipts and children have developed normally? Thanks

Please please try not to panic about things like this. Just try to think about how many people handle receipts regularly and have perfectly healthy children. I have regularly handled receipts through all three of my pregnancies. I have 2 healthy children and currently a healthy pregnancy. You are absolutely overreacting. Stay away from google and enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy, if you’re finding yourself often being overwhelmed by irrational anxiety please speak to your midwife before baby comes so they can put extra support in place

Please stop googling this. If it was a genuine risk do you not think it would be part of NHS pregnancy advice like not drinking and smoking.

OP I thought BPA thermal till rolls were banned in the UK and EU in 2020?

I’m in Australia, and apparently it has been replaced with bps in banned countries which is worse than bpa.

Just don't eat them and wash your hands regularly

Your baby will be fine, this info has only recently come to light so think of all the pregnant women who have come before you that have done the same thing and their babies are fine.

The risk is obviously not yet recognised by any national health care provider etc so you won't find any actual guidance. Takes on average 17 years for new information to be incorporated in to medical practice!

But now you know, I would wear gloves if poss while working with them all day.

And for the future, I just never take the receipt where it can be avoided!

I had never even heard of this! I was unbelievably anxious during my second pregnancy as we lost our first child in the third trimester, so I'm surprised I didn't come across this!
I work handling receipts everyday (and did whilst pregnant), literally going through them individually. My daughter is 10 months and is perfect! She is developmentally where she needs to be/ahead in some areas. She's almost walking. She's very social. She waves and points and has been saying mama and Dada since 6 months. So I can't imagine there's much effect from the receipts! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy 😊

Thank you, I needed to hear this 💕

Worked in retail until 8 months pregnant. Currently sat here feeding beautiful healthy 5 month old. Till roll is absolutely the last thing you need to worry about.
