Hook effect.

I am gonna sound completely insane. Ive been reading about the hook effect in pregnancy and im just wanting to talk to someone really that has maybe had a similar experience. I am on day 7 of no period with negative pregnancy tests. I just want to know if anyone else has had this before? If anyones experienced the hook effect and can share there stories? Please anything will do. Im ttc for 2 years. MMC last year. I just need some hope. Or for someone to bring me back to reality. Please.

Hook effect is when the hcg is so high that the tests read as negative or as faint positives. This doesn’t happen until around 7/8 weeks pregnant, some people don’t get it at all. You are far too early to be experiencing hook effect so it’s more likely you are not pregnant and period is delayed or skipped all together.

The hook effect happens later on in pregnancy, when the level of HCG becomes so high that the test will show a negative. What is your usual cycle length and when was your last period? Do you know roughly when you ovulated?

Also feeling like I'm insane today. Had to have a termination for medical reasons 6 weeks ago - devastated but trying to move on. TTC straight away as was told no reason why not..

I've had pregnancy symptoms for the last 3 weeks - a lot of pelvic pressure, tingly boobs / nipples, exhausted - thought it was intense PMS ahead of my first period after the op but no period yet. Not sure when I ovulated - it can vary after a termination - so no idea what's going on! I just feel like I'm pregnant but don't want to get my hopes up. Hook effect seems like a long shot! But maybe...

@Thornberry1 i'm so so sorry for your loss. I wish i had the words to help you feel better but unfortunately i dont think there are any.

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you get that positive result. Have you tested yet?

Turns out my period was really late last month. Devastated but we have kept trying. Just past ovulation now so only a couple of weeks until we can test.
