Terrible insomnia and anxiety

I have had insomnia and anxiety before. Currently 5 weeks pregnant and haven’t slept a wink in days. Dr gave me phenergan but doesn’t help. I can’t even nap, have great sleep hygiene and routine etc but the second I fall asleep I wake up with a jolt immediately, which I’ve never had before. Anyone else experienced this? How do you cope?

@Jujulouise I suffered from this also after I had a miscarriage, not a symptom of miscarriage BTW so don't freak!! it was the anxiety after did it to me, my husband used to play rain sounds on the bedroom television via YouTube which used to soothe me a bit enough to get back to sleep, I'd focus on the sound and try and clear my brain, worked some nights others it didn't but its worth a try maybe ?

Thank you for your reply, I’m so sorry you had a miscarriage. Good suggestion thank you I’ll try that. It’s hard to trust it will pass

@Jujulouise - no specific advice on the pregnancy specific sleep issues, but have struggled with sleep my whole life.

a bit like 38andtrying’s suggestions, headspace have some free sleep casts on YouTube that always get me to sleep. It takes you through a story and then has some soothing music to fall asleep to (a bit like the rain sounds too).

Im usually asleep within ten minutes so hope it helps
