Hold on for a long one.
Bank holiday Monday very unexpectedly found out I was pregnant.
DH took it really badly and wanted me to have a termination - he has dealt with it really badly and that’s a whole other discussion.

I’ve had 2 weeks of my thoughts, essentially deciding I would go through with pregnancy, even though potentially I could be solo parenting.

Last Tuesday, as I was unsure of dates, I had an early scan and basically was told that there was something tiny (possibly cyctic) in my uterus and “something on the right”.

They took some baseline Hcg bloods (837) and I had to go back 48 hours later for repeat bloods… Thursday had them done and they had risen to 1165.
I’m confused as they look for it “doubling” but then say it needs to rise by I think she said 53% (which is not doubling as that would be 100%)? 😵‍💫

Anyway they thought it was looking likely to be ectopic and I had to go again yesterday for bloods and rescan.
Bloods again had a “suboptimal increase” and were at about 1600, and the scan showed a sac measuring exactly 5weeks in my uterus but he couldn’t see anything in it… he had a good look at ovaries and tubes and couldn’t see anything at all but reminded me that that doesn’t necessarily mean something isn’t hiding somewhere, but felt that it was probably in the right place.

My options were to have methotrexate, or to go back for more bloods (tomorrow) and another scan later in the week (which is what I’ve opted to do) just incase.

The consultant was very noncommittal and basically said “we rely on the blood numbers and you will not achieve a successful pregnancy with those numbers”.

What a headbattering whirlwind and I’m not sure if anyone has any advice, thoughts etc but just needed to get it all out.

I had an ectopic years ago. My bloods never doubled they were relative low everytime and a week later I started to have severe pain and dizziness and was rushed in where it was very obvious it was in my tube. My tube was rupturing and I had internal bleeding but there was nothing in the uterus. I then had ivf 6 years ago and I had a scan at 5 weeks where they could see a sac in the uterus but nothing more until I had another scan at just over 6 weeks and you could only just see a tiny black splodge inside the uterus. It may just be a little early to see anything. 5 weeks is still very early. See what happens at your next appointment and fingers crossed its good news for you.
