Brown clot and blood at 11+4

Hi everyone, I’m in a panic here 😭 everything has been fine up until today around 3, I went to the toilet and wiped and there was a really small amount of brown blood/discharge. I’ll add photos. I’ve had a few stringy bits since. I’ve had a pad on a few hours and nothing goes into the pad, but the brown is only there if I kind of stick the toilet paper right up there if you know what I mean. I had a scan at 8 weeks and baby was good with heartbeat. I’m convinced I’ve lost it. I’ve spoken to a midwife who wasn’t very concerned and was absolutely lovely, she said she’d take my details and have EPU call me Monday to see if they’d scan me, but they may not cos I’m in no pain and no red blood. So I booked a private scan Monday 10am, I have my 12 week scan Friday but I’m in such a state I couldn’t wait till then 😭 I’m convinced this a sign of a MMC as my symptoms started to subside not long after my 8 week scan too. Was so happy this morning and now I’m in work crying 😭

Hi @midnights0 - totally understand how stressed you are, I had every kind of bleeding with both my successful pregnancies and I was convinced it was game over so many times.

Something I learned is that brown blood is the least worrying kind - that, and stringy stuff as you're describing, is old blood that can be tucked away in a fold of skin or pocket somewhere in your uterus or vaginal, and then as things change and grow it can become dislodged and work its way out.

I genuinely believe you don't have anything to worry about, but appreciate I'm not a medical professional, so my opinion isn't worth very much! I hope you get peace of mind very soon Flowers

Hi @midnights0 I know how stressful this is.
I had a private scan at 8 weeks with my second and everything looked good.
Then randomly at 11 weeks I had a massive red bleed. It happened once then just brown stringy similar to what you have posted.
I got a private scan the Monday and everything was fine. DD is now 9 months. So I wouldn't necessarily think the worst.
I should add that I ended up having a low lying placenta for my whole pregnancy and midwives thought this could have been related.
I hope everything works out ok for you.

At 10wks I had very similar and was convinced that I was losing the pregnancy. Midwife said brown blood is old blood and not concerning. In my case she was right and I went on to have a 7lb3oz baby girl at 39weeks. It’s so scary at the time but rest up, eat and drink plenty and try not to worry but speak to midwife and request a scan if are worried as nothing worse than to be sat there feeling ill with worry.

I had a huge bleed with clots at 12 weeks and she's now 14, so doesn't always mean bad things. Try to get a scan

hi everyone, thanks for your replies. I had nothing overnight so felt a bit happier, but just been food shopping and came back to some more :( I’ve got a private scan tomorrow. I’m thinking the worst

Fingers crossed everything goes
Ok with your scan tomorrow xx

midnights0 · 12/06/2023 12:41

Incase anyone reads this thread in the future, my worst fear was confirmed at a scan today and I’ve had a missed misscarriage, baby stopped growing at 8+3 and I should be 12 weeks tomorrow. We only saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks too. Life is so unfair and cruel.

So sorry to hear that. I saw your post yesterday and I worried for you as it was exactly what happened to me at 12 weeks.
You must be feeling so sad now and there are no words to make you feel better. I hope you have the support you need to get through this heartbreak Flowers
Thinking of you.
