Worried baby has turned at 36 + 3

Hi all

I’m wondering where you are all feeling movements if your baby has been head down in the third trimester? My baby has presented head down the whole way through but his movement locations have completely changed this last week.

I am seeing my midwife for my 36 week appointment on Tuesday next week but freaking out slightly. He was slightly engaged (1/5) at 34 weeks but I know this means nothing really as they can pop out again.

I am feeling a ball on the right hand side of my stomach around belly button height and sometimes other hard lumps on the left. I have tried belly mapping but cannot locate a head at all. I am assuming the right hand lump is a bum as it tends to move in conjunction with the left lumps (perhaps feet?)

What’s thrown me the most is I used to feel hiccups down below but now I’m feeling them at bellow button height. Has anyone felt movements change and baby still be head down?

My first daughter was transverse until delivery but I think this was due to my placenta previa which never moved out of the way and we were admitted from 37 weeks. I am super paranoid about transverse presentation so this is consuming my mind.

Also I don’t have the ‘bowling ball’ feeling that people describe at this gestation when baby is head down. Does everyone experience that?

Hi @Aprilsh0wers

I’m currently 38+6 and been in to hospital a number of times in the third trimester for different reasons and baby has always been head down when examined.

In terms of movement I typically get a lot of pushing up into the rib area by the baby’s feet but do also find when I lie down on my sides baby does shift around and at times has made me think the baby has turned out of the head down position. I will say in the last week or so I’ve been getting pressure in my pelvis region and lightening/shooting pain in the groin area, but haven’t experienced the bowling ball sensation down there. Last time I saw midwife I was 3/5- 4/5 engaged.

I have experienced what you’re saying though with the large lump to one side of tummy which I believe to be baby’s bum as I often feel little jabs to the other side which I also assume to be feet. I’ll sometimes feel little flutters down in the pelvis region which midwife said is likely baby moving arms/hands.

Hope that is some help, all the best x
