Hi! I'm 19+4 weeks and just come home from my '20 week' scan. During the scan the sonographer paused and went quiet for a while. Afterwards she said that she thought that she saw a mass on baby's lung but then decided it was just a shadow. I can't stop thinking about it!! Should she have gotten a 2nd opinion? Or should I just trust that she later decided it was a 'shadow'? She hasn't written anything on my notes. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience and what your outcome was OR what you would do in this situation (call the hospital maybe? Or just leave it?) I don't want to sound like Im not trusting a highly qualified sonographer.. xx

Helloo, that must of been so worrying for you! For your own peace of mind I would ask for a second opinion just in terms of settling anxiety etc, sounds like they really should have done that anyway! They do get things wrong so probably was just a shadow❤️

Get a private scan if that's a suitable option for you.

I used window to the womb multiple times for extra reassurance - they were excellent.

Hope you're feeling okay 💗

Thank you so much both of you for your replies!! I've used window to the womb a few times so might have a look at booking another! I don't see my midwife until 28 weeks but feel like I'll be going crazy if I don't sort something sooner🙈

You should be seeing your midwife for an appointment at 24 weeks. But you can call them earlier they may want to rebook your scan or chase up with the sonographer for your own peace of mind
