Hi

Was just wondering when you had your first appointment with the consultant (in consultant-led care)?

At the booking appointment, the midwife wanted me to have my first consultant appointment at week 13 but their earliest appointment was for week 17. So, I had no option but take what they could offer me.

I am now wondering if this delay is going to make issues in my care further along the line.

This is my first pregnancy and I am having consultant-led care because of my medical history and the fact that I need a C-section.

I was midwife last time but consultant this time and my first appointment is at 21 weeks. Seeing the consultant this time as DC1 was classed as small for gestational age (though only just)
Perhaps it varies depending on the reason xx

I was consultant led during one pregnancy, think first appt was a similar stage and it was a spotty young junior doctor who appeared to have less knowledge than my midwife! He kept going out to get help to answer my questions. Just to prepare you it may not be as grand as expected.

My consultant did my 12 weeks scan so that was my first appointment with her. I'm 33 weeks now and haven't seen her since then. She just did the scan and asked me if I wanted a c section or natural birth. I have to have serial growth scans but had them in my last two pregnancies which where both midwifery led so consultant led doesn't feel any different.

I am under consultant-led care and will be meeting them at my 20 week scan so I think it is pretty normal.

Consultant lead care here but haven't actually met them yet. The midwife does the appointment then goes off to discuss with the doctor who signs the notes as agreed with what they say. Seems to be the norm here.

We first met the consultant at our anomaly scan (20 weeks). It wasn’t as big a deal as we anticipated.

I don't see my consultant until 28 weeks
