Just wondering when people usually announce following 12 week scan?
Is it usually straight away or once the screening results are back?
Finally got my scan tomorrow at 13+6 and excited to start telling people.

Hi OP, congratulations! It's really personal and up to everyone to do what works for them, but I waited for the results to be all clear before telling people. Just because I do have friends who had bad news and decided to terminate for medical reasons as their baby wasn't going to survive. It was AWFUL and would have been so much harder for them if they had already announced, obviously.

Wish you all the best whatever you decide!

Thank you @WoolyMammoth55! I’m thinking of doing this, it just feels like I’ve been waiting she’s since finding out haha. Can I ask how long your results took to come back?

I was sort of superstitious about jinxing things so it felt easy for me to be patient! Also I had already told a few super-close friends - ones who I knew would be 100% supportive if we had a bad result and had to TFMR. That way I could still have the excited chats but it wasn't "announced", if you see what I mean?

Timeframe I think depends on what type of screening you're having, and NHS or private? We had NIPT done privately and I think it was 5 days but then the results were inconclusive so we had to have it re-done... That's rare though and we were just unlucky!! If you are having an anomaly scan on the NHS then I think it's pretty much immediate - the ultrasound technician won't tell you but after 10 mins a nurse/medic will go through the results with you. The blood test results have to be sent off to a lab so those are slower.

Wish you all the best.
