Hello, I was wondering did anyone get their baby's gender wrong during ultrasound? Just curious.

Yes it is possible to get the sex wrong, depending on the position of your baby and the competence of your sonographer. It’s more likely that you’d be told you’re having a girl, and you give birth to a boy, as the genitals could have been ‘hiding’. Less likely to be wrong if you’re told it’s a boy.
If you are going for a private scan please do your research about the company as it’s a non regulated area and ‘sonographer’ is not a protected title.

Agree with poster above. At my scan, I was quite clearly shown the ‘boy parts’.

I had a boy and it was very obvious at my 20 week scan.

I know two people who were told they were having a girl. One found out at a later scan it was a boy , the other found out at birth. So it definitely does happen and the sonographer should tell you it isn't 100%

I was told at 20 week scan that it was a girl. Had a growth scan at 32 weeks and 2 people said they thought it was a boy, another scan at 36 weeks and could see it was a boy.
Now a healthy, happy 15 month old who sounds like he is banging around the kitchen with his walker.

Also please remember that the purpose of the 20 week scan is to check that you are carrying a healthy baby, not to tell you if you are having a girl or a boy. Of course the sonographer understands that you’re excited to see your baby but do bear in mind that they are concentrating so that they can rule out any abnormalities.

A guy I worked with was told he and his wife were having a second DD - but they had a DS. He was delighted!

My friends brother was told their baby was a girl and a boy popped out - his nursery was decorated in full pink 😂
