Early Pregnancy Bleeding and new job

Hi,
Hoping that I may be able to get some of advise or know if anyone's been in a similar situation to me.
I'm about 7 weeks pregnant, had an early scan which showed a healthy embryo with a heartbeat but also that I have a subchorionic haematoma which is quite a common bleed in the uterus and you can get spotting. I've had some bleeding today, have gone to A&E and they've referred me on to the early pregnancy unit for a scan to check everything is still ok. I've not received my appointment yet but have been told it could be on Monday or Tuesday. I'm due to start a new job this Monday which is not ideal with a new pregnancy anyway but now I'm not sure how to explain this situation to them and don't really want to as it's all so personal and early especially on my first day.

Any advise on how to handle this work would be much appreciated

TIA :)

You just tell them that you need a scan at the hospital so will need to be unavailable from x time till y time. Apart from blocking the time out in your calendar is there anything else they'd like you to do. Can you make up the time in the rest of the week or take it as unpaid leave?

(Unless necessary to get a h&s assessment at work I wouldn't tell them about the pregnancy yet).

Once you've had the scan and results you can decide whether you need a different conversation with them.
