Stretch and sweep to 3cm, 75% effaced - bloody show

Had a hospital appointment today, 39 + 2 days. Induction was offered following concern that my placenta might not be working as hard as it should be. I REALLY want to avoid an induction if possible, and have until Tuesday mid day to go into labor naturally. I did accept a stretch and sweep, which was at 3cm with effacement at 75% and an immediate bloody show. Now what's the likelihood of this actually kick starting labor?

The reality is that no-one can give you an answer to that I'm afraid, could be a week, could be tonight. Unfortunately you will just have to wait and see. The good news is that if you do decide to go ahead with induction you should just be able to go straight for having your waters broken as your cervix is already favourable.

Try plenty of walking up and down the stairs, sitting and rocking on a birth ball if you have one. And most of all try to do things that will keep you calm and help the oxytocin flow. Best of luck, just remember nobody stays pregnant forever.

Oh that's really positive!! I think stretch and sweeps only really work if your body was ready to labour anyway, and it looks like your body has already started to work towards that. They can probably break your waters already so at least you'll be able to skip the pessary stage. It might be that breaking your waters is enough too 🤞 good luck OP!

Have you tried antenatal expressing?
You could also ask for another sweep on Monday afternoon if you wanted?
