Hi all, i have just got my date through for my elective section with twins, 26th June. Super excited/nervous as they will be my first and i think i am almost prepared around the house (as can be) in regards to cleaning, washing, organising etc. Im just interested to know what you ladies did leading up to your section dates? And is there anything else i should be doing? 🙂

Hi OP

I've had two one emergency and one elective. Both went really smoothly, my recovery was fine, just needed help in and out of bed for a few days. Obviously you can't do any cooking or cleaning so either pre make meals or ask others to help with that, people gifted us just eat vouchers which was great! One thing that I found a big help in hospital was a breast feeding pillow that I used round my neck to sleep on upright as you can't move much after! Make sure you have a comfy area set up at home for you with a giant water bottle so don't have to get up for drinks etc, I was lucky my sister and mum came to help with washing and cleaning so take any offers or make sure DP is well versed in what needs to be done around the house! Hope it all goes well for you

Oh and I found incontinence pants a lot easier than having to change pads etc

Oh just thought of another, both mine were born in a heatwave and I had major sweats post partum so get a good fan!

Book a supermarket delivery or click and collect so you don't need to do a big shop soon after you get home

Get as much rest as you can.
Make sure you've got yourself a couple of"stations" e.g. comfy spot on the sofa with a basket with water bottle/snacks/tv remote. Especially with a section you can get pinned under a newborn when feeding so you want to be comfortable and entertained!

Beyond the practical things, we made time to go to our favourite restaurant and get my hair done!
