Just found out I’m pregnant with an 18 month old

Sorry long one!

I just found out I’m pregnant and I have an 18 month old this is a bit unexpected we wanted to grow our family but a little later in the year.

I am bleeding and have been from what I can now only think as implantation bleeding. Some is heavy and some light, I am going to wait til my doctors is open to speak to them tomorrow as unsure what is going on.

I have also just literally returned from our honeymoon in the Bahamas! So I am now panicking about Zika virus too! It says there’s no confirmed Zika in Bahamas in 2023 but I know the guidance is to still not get pregnant for 3 months after so I am stressing about that too.

we are trying to let this all sink in, does anyone have any advice on the age gap etc? Or any of the points above thank you for reading!

I found out I was pregnant again when my first was around 18 months. There are 23 months between them.

My experience was so much better than the first. Meaning our lives were already disrupted massively obviously by the arrival of our first born, so the second literally just slotted in to an already hectic family household.

The older child loved having the baby around to play with, look after etc and the younger had a constant source of amusement at all times watching the older one play etc.

I found it easy to arrange trips, holidays etc as they were so close in age and enjoyed similar age related activities. They are very close now as adults.

I realise this won’t be everyone’s experience, but it was a lovely age gap for my family.

There is 26months between my first and second and 23months between my second and third. It is a really lovely age gap in my opinion. The children are in similar stages at the same time so are interested in the same things. All three of mine (5yrs, 3yrs and 1yrs) play so nicely together and are very close. It is the same age gap I had between myself and my two sisters, I'm the middle child.

We were also planning to wait until later in the year to try for baby number 2 (holiday booked for September 🙈😂) but a nice surprise 😊
I've got a scan booked for Wednesday so hopefully will find out a due date.

OP, you'll have a 2 year gap. That's completely normal gap. Is there anything you are particularly worried about?
