Hi all,
im 8 weeks pregnant and have a bicornuate uterus.
naturally, I googled it and have now as good as convinced myself baby is never going to make it to my arms!

im wondering if anyone else with this shaped uterus can please offer me some real life reassurances and experiences please?

midwide said I’ll be under consultant led care, and we had a private scan last night where everything so far is going as expected. I think I’m going to ask for a caesarean based on some of the Google info I came across.

many thanks in advance!
an anxious first time mum xx

Hey @Skyplatypus :)

I think I am kind of in the same boat! I have two cervixes - not totally sure what shape my uterus is. I'm 6 weeks today and can't wait for 8 week scan! I just wanna know what's going on too.

Have also been heavily Googling... looks like a lot of healthy outcomes! All the best to you.

I have this. Two live births with no issues. I also had a vaginal birth both times. It's definitely doable

I have a bicornate uterus too. I’ve had fertility issue but these were down to a blood clotting disorder and I’m having my second baby in just over 4 weeks x

I also have this. Two uneventful successful pregnancies, the second with twins. This was apparently not discovered until after I'd had my kids and I had my fibroids examined. Wouldn't have ever known otherwise.

I learned I had a heart-shaped uterus (I think that's the same) at some point while having kids. No-one ever made any fuss about it, I didn't realise it was associated with risks. To reassure you OP, two unproblematic pregnancies and vaginally births to term when I was aged 32 and 35.

I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant with a bicornuate uterus I just started spotting a little yesterday and today I’m still light bleeding but it’s more noticeable when I wipe also tiny clots too I’m confused on what’s happening as I haven’t bled until now

Nessanoor · 07/01/2024 19:00

I had a chemical pregnancy before getting pregnant again this time round ,did you spot or light bleed at any point in your pregnancies?

Nessanoor · 08/01/2024 03:16

Just came to the hospital with heavy bleeding and clotting i have a bicornuate uterus the doctor did a internal scan and said it looks like it’s the placenta tissue but said they will do a scan tomorrow but the clotting has subsided just bleeding now thoughts?

Hey, I also have a bicornuate uterus which I found out when I had my first of two heavy bleeds at 6.5 weeks. Had another at 11.5ish, and nothing since, I'm now 21 weeks. The midwife who did my first early scan told me not to google it, of course I did, so completely understand your alarm. But as things stand now my baby is completely fine, I'll have growth scans from around 28 or 30 weeks but have been told there's a high chance everything could be normal from here on.

I have a bicornate uterus with a 2.7cm septum I have a ren yr old born at 31 weeks last year in March I lost my twin girls at 24 weeks first twin past at 1 week old 2nd 4 weeks old this was so traumatic an as u can imagine I really do t want to go thru this again iv had a mri spoken to a re specialist at derby hospital uk .as iv spoken to many women who have had there septum resection and gone on to carry further or full term .but after meeting with this consultant left me more confused he does not seem to think the resection would be beneficial an basically said these situations ain't tx book .to just try again have regular scans but I'm not convinced this is the best idea as iv had two complicated pregnancys already I don't want the surgery if it's goin to cause more issues obviously. But I felt he was very vague about the info I do t no if to try seek 2nd opinion at another hospital b4 me an my currant partner try again im 36 so don't want to leave it to long and my currant partner has no children so I really feel deflated by all this and just don't feel like im gettin anywhere has anyone had any simler experience x
