Could baby be all in my back

Hi everyone, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and still not showing at all. So many people the last few weeks have made comments on how amazing I look and how I don't in the slightest look pregnant never mind 31 weeks, it's my first baby so I know it can take longer but even so at this stage I would expect to be showing, all of my growth scans are perfectly normal & I have gestational diabetes so they say I'm supposed to be on the bigger bump side, a relative said baby could be completely in the back and said good luck to me if so because the back contractions are the worst? how would I know if baby was all in the back? my scans never showed anything or I was never told? all I know is that my placenta is anterior. what do we think?

She means if your baby is 'back to back' as in their spine is closest to your spine. If baby is in this position when labour starts it can cause more painful contractions but plenty of people still manage fine. The size of your bump is absolutely no indication of the position of your baby so please don't worry. Even at 31 weeks they will be changing positions all the time anyway!

Don't let this comment get in your head. Some people just carry small!

Are you tall? I’m 5 foot 9 and my bump is a funny shape, I didn’t show until late last time. It’s like baby has so much room to curl round in there that she doesn’t need to stick out the front the way smaller people do

Hiya I also have anterior placenta, I'm 28 weeks and have a stealth bump (that's what I like to call it lol). If I didn't tell anyone noone would know I was pregnant, even when I do people assume I am really early. Im 5ft 2in so not tall. Bumps come in all shapes and sizes. If everything is all coming back as normal then that's fab. 🥰
