Just a curiosity question how many pre-cum babies pregnancies do we have on here? Everyone knows the risk is there but they do say if a man has good control pull out is an effective method of contraception maybe a thread like this can give us some idea how effective it is

I’ve been using this method the majority of my adult life, only ever got pregnant when actively trying to. I’m mid 30s.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 01/06/2023 20:39

I've used it for a few years and not got pregnant, but I did get pregnant using a condom (in hindsight we cuddled for a bit too long with him still inside me so I guess some leaked out the side as he went softer) and I also did get intentionally pregnant soon after starting trying to/not pulling out.
My friend has got pregnant through pull out but I wonder if her bf did it intentionally to trap her as he was keen for a baby and she wasn't quite ready yet

Ahhhhhbisto · 01/06/2023 20:39

Done this for over 15 years. Only got pregnant when actively trying. Also fell pregnant within a month of trying each time so not related to fertility for us.

firsttimelondonmummy · 01/06/2023 21:24

It worked for us.
It was the one time he didn’t pull out I fell pregnant 🤣
We are thrilled however 💙

I adore my partner and we've been together a long time. I trust him absolutely. Despite that, I would not want to have no control at all over contraception.

CombatBarbie · 01/06/2023 21:48

We used this method only a couple of times before the vasectomy.... I fell pregnant.

TellKingTutIWantMyMummy · 01/06/2023 21:48

Yes, one here.

It's not a method. It's roulette. Played by those who don't mind getting pregnant.

Or actively want to get pregnant while pretending not to want it.

Hi @hgunes when me and DH were dating he would do the pull out method but i still got pregnant. Unfortunately i miscarried x

LittleMrsPerfect · 01/06/2023 22:31

@TooMuchStuffArghhh

did your partner actually pull out?

PimpMyFridge · 01/06/2023 22:33

DH and I used that method for years (about 17) successfully. Both our dc are deliberate.

Vatican roulette: played by those who have it on good authority they won t get pregnant

Youngest is 18 - so 18 years

That said I was 36 when we started so she might have something to do with it.

TooMuchStuffArghhh · 02/06/2023 14:19

@LittleMrsPerfect Yes he did.

they do say if a man has good control pull out is an effective method of contraception

The only people who tell that big fat lie, are men who won't wear a condom, and know fuck all about biology.

But as women can only get pregnant on certain days of the month, surely as long as pull out is used on the other days and a condom on fertile days then all should be pretty safe

I don't think I'd say it's effective.

I know people who told me they were sure that 'whipping it out' was a sure way of preventing contraception, who became parents because of it.

MaryJean87 · 02/06/2023 14:39

It worked for me but only when I knew I wasn't in my fertile phase. I've always had a cycle like clockwork so I knew when there was a chance of pregnancy and when there wasn't. Also, I was kind of on the fence about another baby, if another would have been disastrous I would have used another method. Now sterilised and I've never used hormonal contraception.

FirstMondayInMay · 02/06/2023 21:37

Currently pregnant with mine🤣 but, I do sometimes have irregular cycles so we were probably playing with fire anyway

Weallgottachangesometime · 02/06/2023 21:41

We’ve been using pull out for the last 2 years. However DH is booked for the snip now.

I was happy using it and didn’t get pregnancy. However I was also aware of where in my cycle I was too. So wouldn’t do it close to fertility window. Also getting pregnancy wouldn’t have been the end of the world. Not wanted but also not a disaster or big issue.

I wouldn’t use pull out only if I REALLY didn’t want a pregnancy.
