Looking at garden is making nausea worse

So I'm 7 weeks and have put so much work this year into growing a beautiful garden full of fruit, veg and ornamental/flowering plants. The only problem is, at the moment I'm hit with morning sickness on and off all day and for some reason just looking at my garden sets it off. I can't bear to go outside and water my plants, and I've had to hide the seedlings I have in the house behind the curtains! It's like just being able to see the green leaves makes me queasy, not to mention the smell of them. Has anyone else had this? It's just so weird, it's not like I'm going to eat my plants!

In my first pregnancy I couldn't stand the smell of plants it made me feel really sick just walking past trees or cut grass etc I think it's to do with heightened sense of smell

I couldn't watch people drinking alcohol on TV without vomiting

I also painted one of the walls in the nursery green and it made me nauseous to look at it for months. I like it now!

Basically it's stupid and nonsensical

Hang in there, hopefully it passes

I have an allotment and during my last pregnancy I developed an aversion to my courgette plants and courgettes (my favourite vegetables until then). I couldn’t look at the plants without feeling immediately nauseous.

Through all three of my pregnancies, I couldn't stand the smell of myself.

I smelt like wheat - I actually made myself sick Grin

MissDynamite23 yes it's my courgette plants that are the worst! I can't bear to go near my greenhouse because they're in there. I'm so glad I'm not just a weirdo lol.

I couldn't look at vegetables in the supermarket without throwing up, I think I would have been the same with my allotment but it was winter. Horrid times!

@PeachyCobbles that’s so funny. This is the first time I’ve come across someone who also experienced this!

I have to say that I’ve only recently been able to enjoy a courgette again and my son is nearly two!

ChekhovsMum · 03/06/2023 18:06

I could be wrong but I remember reading something about courgettes in their non-selectively-bred state being quite poisonous. So it’s likely your instincts telling you to avoid them! I’m about 10w at the moment, not growing any, but the two I auto-bought last week at the supermarket can stay firmly in the salad box - they do not appeal!

I couldn't stand the washing up bowl after the dishes had been washed.

My husband would wash something that had beans in it bolognese or something dark coloured and the water going discoloured and smelling funny would make me wretch 🤢

I don't like it anyway but when I was pregnant I couldn't even look at it without wretching 😂

I've had the exact same thing in both of my pregnancies too! I thought I smelt like oat biscuits, so weird! 😂
