What was the first thing you felt like eating or drinking once you had delivered your baby?
Also, which foods would you recommend to help you recover from labour? About to be FTM and I'm just curious for people's recommendations for food/drink as part of recovery after labour?

Thanks 🙂

Honestly I don’t even remember! I was in hospital for about 20 hours after my c section at 8pm. Had no breakfast and was presented with some random left over meal at lunch time which I couldn’t take a bite of as I felt so sick.
Never got offered the famous post birth tea and toast!

Nothing stands out when I went home either, I wasn’t really limiting any food so it’s not like there was something I loved that I wasn’t having until after birth.

tea, toast and then cottage pie later on!

Bloody amazing.

5 cereal bars one after the other in a frenzied fashion. By god I was hungry.

Anything other than the awful hospital stuff (section, in for a few days).
There's nothing particular to help you after giving birth other than a nutritious varied menu that would be recommended at any time, hopefully with someone else cooking it!

Mcds and a mini bottle of champagne

The day I went home, we had a huge pizza takeaway with wine. Was delicious.... but, would not recommend after a c-section. The wind pain afterwards was worse than the contractions I had during labour - agony!

Tea and toast both times. It’s so funny how a situation can completely change your perception - I work in a hospital and honestly in reality it’s crappy tea and bland toast but at the time honestly it was the best toast I’ve ever had with amazing builders tea.

Tea and toast! It was amazing 😍

I downed a hot chocolate having barely eaten or drunk for 3 days and vommed it straight back up 😬 then in the night a lovely midwife brought me some contraband toast & marmite at 2am

I think one of the best things you can do to aid recovery is drink good quality bone broth if you can get someone to bring you some in a flask (and if you are not veggie obviously!)

The hospital gave me a calippo ice lolly once we got back from theatre (induced on the hottest day of the year). Best ice lolly I’ve ever had.

Had a dominos and big glass of Coca Cola when we got home!

Cheese and pickle sandwich which was the lunch ordered by the previous day's occupant of the delivery room due to the hospital Gaby's bonkers policy of prior day meal ordering even in delivery suites.

I hate pickle but after 18 hours of no food I was hungry enough to chew my own arm off and wolfed it down Grin

Dunno who Gaby is! Confused
