Think I’m pregnant, wedding in 5 weeks

CareBear17 · 01/06/2023 07:15

I know, I know do a test but after bleeding in my last pregnancy I really want to hold off until I’m late, late.

Currently on CD23, cycles range from 21-24 days. I just have this feeling I’m pregnant. Also had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday which stopped quite quickly so don’t think it’s the start of my period. I had that with both previous pregnancies.

If I am pregnant it’s a good thing because we worried my short cycles it would be harder this time round but we get married in 5 weeks. If aim pregnant I’d be 8 weeks and Im worried because this is baby 3 that i’d show really quickly and won’t fit into my dress.

Has anyone been pregnant at their wedding? Or anyone whose had 3 pregnancies in general was anyone still fitting into their own clothes at 8 weeks?

Need some reassurance about this damn dress to ease my testing anxiety

If you're worried about fitting your dress, literally nothing will change in 5 weeks (unless maybe it's skin tight, but even then I'm sure it'll be fine!)

CareBear17 · 01/06/2023 07:20

@Nicecow this is the reassurance i need because i’m convincing myself that if this is baby 3 i’ll be huge quickly and it won’t fit 😂

not skin tight at all, it’s A line and currently hit in the boob area but alternations there aren’t getting done until 3 weeks before the wedding. Fights pretty much perfectly at my waist

You'll be fine!! I got married at 20 weeks with a small bump and you still couldn't really notice! Xx

Whataretheodds · 01/06/2023 07:46

If it's a line and alterations not for 2-3 weeks then just make sure they don't take it in any more. Can they give you extra boob space ?

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 01/06/2023 07:50

Maybe some gentle pilates would help to develop some muscle tone.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 01/06/2023 07:55

You won't put anything on at the 8 week mark. More likely to lose weight rather than gain it due to nausea / loss of appetite in the early weeks. Hurry up and do a test :)
Hope it all works out for you and you have a lovely day x

I'm eight weeks and have put on two pounds only x

SmileyClare · 01/06/2023 08:23

To put this in perspective, an 8 week foetus is the size of a small raspberry- you’ll not have a bump.

Also you haven’t had your final dress fitting yet?

Sending good wishes, hope all goes well x

CareBear17 · 01/06/2023 08:28

@Whataretheodds definitely don’t need more boob space it’s already big there. My waist it’s where it’s pretty much perfect at the moment. I think could be let out slightly if need be.

Thank you everyone! This is the reassurance I needed now to get the courage to test.

I had bleeding at 5 weeks 6 days with DD and EPU wouldn’t scan me because I was still under 6 weeks. Everything turned out to be fine but caused me so much stress that I’m just scared this time

You’ll be fine! No booze and a bit of morning sickness means you’re more likely to lose than gain. X

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 01/06/2023 08:48

At 8 weeks I was down 3kg due to nausea etc 😂. Though I'm 14 weeks now and down 6kg but my waist is definitely bigger. At 8 weeks in a dress that's going to be altered to fit you no-one will notice a thing!

OverTheCountryClub · 01/06/2023 08:49

I was 8 weeks at my wedding - even had my dress taken in. My main early pregnancy symptoms were loss of appetite and nausea so I'd lost weight!

Maybe give the fitter a heads up, but I'm sure it'll be fine! Good luck with everything! Flowers

I'd take a pregnancy test before getting ahead of myself.

shakeitoffsis · 01/06/2023 09:27

I have been pregnant twice and didn't get a hint of a bump till 25 weeks both times, you might be fine!

EMcG3 · 01/06/2023 09:33

I went to a wedding in a fitted dress around that time. Wore some shapewear that I maybe would not have otherwise worn and the dress sat even more nicely. I feel pretty sensitive about things pressing on my tummy in pregnancy but that early it wasn't.bad.

CareBear17 · 01/06/2023 09:44

@existingusername I have reasons for holding off on taking a test. I’m just aware that there are some things similar to my previous pregnancies. I am however holding out a little longer to see if AF comes. I’m in no way saying i’m definitely pregnant just aware I could be and I was worried about the dress if I was. I’d much rather have some reassurance on that front before doing a test. This way if I do a test and it’s positive i have some reassurance about the dress instead of freaking out

gogohmm · 01/06/2023 09:48

Don't worry, it will fit. Everyone is different but I was in regular clothes until 25 weeks with dd 1 and 20 weeks for dd2, a line will hide any slight bloating. Make sure the venue has nonsecco if you are trying to obscure the fact

chocolatebrioche · 01/06/2023 09:56

Bridal shop consultant here.
We deal with pregnant brides a lot, and the seamstress always makes it work. If you are expecting, at five weeks it will probably only be your bust that might get a little bigger, but in my experience we only ever need to do extra alterations at 9/10 weeks onward.
Most wedding dresses have a little seam allowance in the sides, so totally doable. Please don't worry.
Wishing you all the best.

Didn't even notice 🤣

CareBear17 · 07/06/2023 17:56

Well i’ve tested & it’s positive.

@chocolatebrioche thank you so much for taking the time to comment. i’ll be roughly 8 weeks by the wedding and this is my third so a little anxious but hopefully it’ll all be okay.

Congratulations on both the wedding and baby no. 3 xx

CareBear17 · 21/06/2023 09:29

Just wanted to thank everyone again. Had my dress fitting last week. Alterations people were fantastic and said this might actually be what I need to fill the top of my dress better 😂 they said they’re not at all concerned about the space in the dress because there’s plenty and they’ve booked me back in for the week before the wedding to see exactly what needs done. They’re not going to touch it before then but they have cleared 3 days in their diary to make sure my dress is done on time
