So much weight gain only 9 weeks

So I am really struggling with body image and I'm only 9 weeks, I've already gained 5kg in pretty much only a month as I just can't stop eating.

Usually I am super healthy, go to the gym, cook everything from scratch, lots of vegetables and smoothies etc but now all I crave is bread, beige food in general and so much of it and if I try and eat healthy food I'm so nauseous!

I actually went to the gym yesterday for the first time since I found out I was pregnant and only did 30 mins on treadmill walking and jogging, came home and the awful nausea hit me and I felt absolutely wiped out like I'd run a marathon!

I just feel so uncomfortable, all my clothes are too tight and its making me feel so unattractive, so much for a pregnancy glow!

Is anyone else in a similar boat? Sorry for the rant I just don't know if it's normal to gain so much so quickly in first trimester? A quick Google told me it's normal to gain 10-12kg so if I've already gained 5kg in one month and only week 9 god knows how much more I'll gain!

I am so grateful for this pregnancy but was so unprepared for the body image issues it's bringing up😢

It sounds like you were probably extra slim before so that 5kg might actually be you returning to a "normal" weight? Not to undermine how uncomfortable that might make you feel. On the plus side if you're worrying about it I think once the nausea passes you'll be able to get back to eating healthily and your weight gain will even out over the course of the pregnancy. I'm not a gym person at all (wish I was) but I can't wait to have salads and fruit again - at the moment only carbs really bring me joy!

I gained 25kgs in my last pregnancy and had a constant feeling of hunger. Was worried I'd never have a normal appetite again. I calorie counted for a couple of months post partum so I would know my limits but gave up after a while. So far (7 months) I've lost 34kgs. My advice is try to make healthy choices when you can but don't sweat it, you're growing a person! First trimester is the worst for feeling tired and generally awful, be nice to yourself Flowers. Congratulations OP!!

I found by about 13 weeks the beige cravings went and I could eat healthily again.. hopefully you might have similar at some point. Midway through the second trimester was when the "glow" appeared for me.

Congratulations!

I agree. The right carbs help with the sickness, I found.
