Numbness in Left Arm

Hi everyone, just popped in for a bit of advice... I'm 35 weeks pregnant and for the last couple of weeks my fingers and hand on my left side have been tingling and I've been having pins and needles. I thought this was normal for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but the last few nights the pain has increased all the way up my arm, so that my arm is numb and the pain is waking me up several times a night. It's awful - has anyone else had it this badly? I'm just worried as they say left sided arm pain is heart-related, but i think it's because I've been sleeping on my left side (as recommended) Does anyone think this warrants a trip to the GP?

(and a big HELLO as this is my first post!)

Thanks

Hello JuJuMoo and welcome to Mumsnet. I had this when pregnant (years ago) especially when I was on the phone. I think it is something to do with extra fluid. MN has a resident Midwife called Mears who should be able to fully advise you plus of course thousands of really experienced mums. xx

Hi Jujumoo

No idea what you have but at 35 weeks pregnant I'd definitely go to the GP...always best to be safe and a good excuse to hear the baby again Smile

Hi and welcome. I had lots of pins and needles in my arm and hand especially at the end of the pregnancy. Mention it at your next antenatal. I was told that it was probably carpul tunnel, but that was after I had given birth to the twins and was constantly hoiking them up and out of bed etc. Not sure that I can offer anything to help, but do tell them at your next checkup.

Enjoy mumsnet. Grin

Thanks for the advice everyone, I went to the GP and I got referred to the hospital straight away for the fitting of an arm/wrist brace, which is helping a lot, thank goodness, as I don't think I could have coped with a lot more! phew!
