Anyone had nausea in first pregnancy but not second?

I had a lot of nausea in my first pregnancy (only actually sick a couple of times).

Pregnant again now, nearly 6 weeks. Not the slightly hint of nausea. I can’t remember when it started the first time.

I alternate between being glad I don’t feel sick, and worrying that I don’t “feel” pregnant at all.

So were your pregnancies similar in terms of nausea/sickness?

First pregnancy. Very nauseous. Could barely eat.
Second pregnancy. Twins. No nausea. Constantly hungry.

Makes no sense logically but every pregnancy is different! Don't stress.

TellKingTutIWantMyMummy · 30/05/2023 13:43

With my second pregnancy, nausea started much later, as did sore boobs etc and was a lot more mild.

Hazelnuttella · 30/05/2023 13:46

Good to hear! I will try not to stress.
On the plus side my boobs have gone massive and my face is puffy already so I do have some pregnancy symptoms to console myself with 🙃

My first ended in a MMC and I was terribly sick, throwing up 10x a day.

On my second now and haven’t been sick once. Haven’t yet had my scan but hoping everything will be fine this time 🙏

I did have some with DD2, but definitely not as much.

Weirdly my pregnancy symptoms as a whole throughout the pregnancy were less with DD2. With DD1 I had sore breasts at the start (didn't have at all with DD2), awful pelvic pain (was there but not as bad with DD2), and swollen ankles and fingers (didn't have this at all with DD2).

Nausea but no vomiting in first pregnancy, vomiting with no nausea in second.

Pregnancy is weird 🤷‍♀️

moregarlic · 30/05/2023 13:51

I had nausea (though no throwing up) with my first and nothing at all with my second! Totally normal.

Shrubb157 · 30/05/2023 13:52

No but they weren’t similar at all.

First pregnancy, nausea, sick twice.

Second pregnancy, nausea, vomiting multiple times all day everyday, had to be signed off work. Then felt almost miraculously better around 15 weeks.

Both girls, both times sickness/nausea started around 6/7 weeks.

Try not to read too much into it, I just think every baby/pregnancy is different.

TheOtherHotstepper · 30/05/2023 13:54

HG in first pregnancy. Absolutely nothing in the second.

Ttcmumma · 30/05/2023 14:15

First pregnancy barely sick. Threw up maybe 3 times in first trimester? Usually when I hadn't ate in too long. Second pregnancy nauseas all day long, barely function in the mornings vomitting and then still felt sick all day and night. Unfortunately lost that bubba at 14 weeks x

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/05/2023 14:34

Isn't it linked to the sex of the baby? I thought there's less nausea with boys, this may be an old wives tale though 😂

PickledScrump · 30/05/2023 15:03

@Girliefriendlikespuppies I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever with my second, totally different from my first which was constant nausea and occasional vomiting.

Both are girls so definitely no relation to babies sex at all. It’s one of those old wives tales

caringcarer · 30/05/2023 15:35

I was so sick during my first pregnancy and it went on for almost 5 months. I only felt mild sickness for a couple of months for my second and none for the third pregnancy.

Hazelnuttella · 30/05/2023 15:43

The risk factors for sickness on the NHS website do say you’re more likely to get it if it’s your first pregnancy. So maybe I’ll be luckily 🤞

For me, I had lots of nausea in 1st and 3rd pregnancy and none in 2nd.

Sadly, my 2nd was a MMC.

Having said this, I didn't get nauseous until 6/6.5 weeks with pregancy 1 and 3.

Also, it's apparently common to feel nausea with girls and not boys.

And, every pregancy can be entirely different!

Hopefully all is well OP, but I know how hard it is not to worry.

I was a lot less sick in my second pregnancy. It started later and finished earlier, nausea wasn't as strong and only threw up once.

Jericha · 30/05/2023 16:24

For info, first pregnancy was a boy and second a girl.

Ged94 · 30/05/2023 18:13

I had terrible morning sickness with my first boy

Then very very light morning sickness that started later with my girl. Like movie version of morning sickness

Dyra · 30/05/2023 18:25

I was nauseous from the get go with DC1 until about 16 weeks. Only vomited a few times thankfully.

DC2 I was a bit tired.... And that was it. Had a scan at 10 weeks as I couldn't believe I was pregnant. I had a little bit of nausea after that, that only lasted a couple of weeks, but nothing too bad. Only vomited maybe once as well. The fatigue was the only thing that got bad, and stayed bad.

DC1 was a girl, and DC2 was a boy.

toothbrusher · 30/05/2023 18:28

Me. First pregnancy sick almost every day for 9 months. Second pregnancy sick less than 5x, generally when I'd overdone it. Terrible constipation second time round though
